Bhubaneswar: Since its inception, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has been dedicated to the task of national reconstruction. Guided by the principles of Gnyan, Sheel, and Ekata, the Vidyarthi Parishad plays a vital role in the development of education and social awareness across the country. By fostering character among students, the Parishad aims to build a strong society and ensure a bright future for both the nation and the state. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi underscored these points during the inaugural ceremony of the 49th State Conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, held at the Cuttack Indoor Stadium.

He asserted that the Vidyarthi Parishad serves as a successful student organisation for nation-building. The Chief Minister expressed his firm belief that the youth leadership in attendance, by prioritising national interests, will help further glorify our heritage, identity, and legacy of valour.

Expressing his delight at participating in this grand convention, Shri Majhi extended his best wishes to all the leaders, intellectuals, and students present.

Shri Majhi stated that the Odisha government is focused on the overall development of students in the state. Initiatives include ensuring transparency in examinations and recruitment processes, implementing the National Education Policy 2020, and launching the PM-SHRI scheme, all aimed at securing a bright future for students.

The Chief Minister announced that student union elections in colleges and universities would be held in the upcoming academic year. This announcement is significant as no student body elections have occurred in the state for the past six years.

He remarked that the previous government conspired to halt student union elections, but his government is committed to conducting these elections, promising that they will not be discontinued.

To make Odisha prosperous and to build a ‘Developed Odisha,’ the goals set by the people’s government require the cooperation and participation of all. The responsibility for successfully implementing this vision does not rest solely with the government; it also lies with the youth leadership of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, who will take on the future responsibilities of Odisha. Therefore, everyone is urged to actively fulfil their duties and contribute to this mission.

During the programme, State Secretary of ABVP, Arijit Pattnayak, presented the annual report. He announced that, for the first time in Odisha’s history, ABVP Odisha has surpassed the milestone of one lakh members this year, with 117,757 students newly joining the organisation. This achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of every worker in the state.

Earlier, the Baji Raut Exhibition was inaugurated at the Indoor Stadium, Barabati, Cuttack, by Shri Bipin Bihari Nanda, Prant Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Odisha Purva, and Dr. Harihar Hota, former Vice-Chancellor of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri.
