Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are set to attend the three-day All-India Conference of Directors General (DGs) and Inspectors General (IGs) of Police in Bhubaneswar, commencing on November 29. This announcement was made by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Monday, November 25.
During a press conference here at Bhubaneswar, Khurania emphasised that Odisha will host this high-level conference for the first time, bringing together top police officials from across the country.
“This is the first time the DG-IG Conference will be held in Bhubaneswar. It will be a three-day event starting on November 29. Odisha will host this important conference, which will be attended by all the DGPs of states and union territories, as well as the DGs of central forces,” stated Khurania.
The DGP also confirmed the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other distinguished dignitaries.
“The conference will focus on national security issues, discussing the challenges faced by police departments. New guidelines will also be addressed over the course of the three days,” he added.
Proud moment for Odisha : Law Minister Harichandan
Speaking to the media, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Monday noted that the Prime Minister will attend the DG-IG conference during his visit, highlighting that this is a proud moment for the state as it will host the conference for the first time.
He further emphasised that the Prime Minister’s visit reflects the central government’s increased focus on the state.
“The hosting of such a major conference in Odisha demonstrates the state’s rising importance at the highest levels of governance, including the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister. Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of November 29 and remain until the afternoon of December 1 to participate in the event,” Harichandan stated.
He expressed optimism that the Prime Minister’s visit would pave the way for further development in Odisha. “This visit will mark a new chapter in the state’s progress and help accelerate its journey towards greater growth and opportunities,” he added.
Apart from Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the three-day event will also be attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, senior officers from the Intelligence Bureau, all state Directors General of Police (DGPs), the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), as well as the heads of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Security Guard (NSG), and Special Protection Group (SPG), according to sources.
The agenda will primarily focus on national security issues and the various challenges faced by police forces across the country. This event aims to address key topics related to India’s security landscape and the operational difficulties encountered by law enforcement professionals, sources added.
