In another major development, at Jirania Railway Station in Tripura’s West District on 8th November evening, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested six Bangladeshi infiltrators, three of them were transgender. Mumbai was supposedly the group’s destination as most of the Bangladeshi infiltrators are prefered to choose.
GRP Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das stated that the authorities responded to a report regarding a possible unlawful border crossing. From Jirania Railway Station, we learned that several Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered the state might attempt to flee. We quickly got to the station after coordinating with other agencies after receiving the tip,” Das said.
Six people were waiting for a train when the cops arrived and took them into custody. At first, they said they lived in Bishalgarh. They later acknowledged, however, that they were citizens of Bangladesh and had arrived in Tripura on October 6. The group planned to settle in Mumbai, so they were on their way there. Four of the arrested people were from Kishoreganj, and two were from Noakhali, two districts in Bangladesh. They have appeared in court as part of a prosecution against the group for unlawfully entering India.
