The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has successfully arrested several people close to the international boundary in various events through a series of concerted actions and cooperation with local law enforcement. This emphasises how vigilant the police are near the border between Bangladesh and India after the recent violence in the neighbouring country.

BSF troops captured seven Bangladeshi nationals in the first operation near Baldamgiri Tinali, also called the Tri-Junction in the South West Garo Hills. They were all residents of Kurigram District, Bangladesh, and identified as Amir Ali (35), Mir Jahan (45), Biplob Mia (35), Angur Hussain (20), Chand Mia (32), Rasel Mia (32), and MD Bakul Mia (35).

Additional investigations revealed that three Indian nationals had travelled to Bangladesh to visit their relatives, while three Bangladeshi nationals had entered India with plans to work in Assam. For these people, a Bangladeshi national known as a tout had made transportation arrangements.

In a separate operation, the 4 Battalion of BSF arrested three Indian and four Bangladeshi nationals in the East Khasi Hills district’s Dawki area. Among those in custody are Suna Lyngdoh (22, Indian national), Shankhor Saha (46, Indian national), Ronbir Saha (9, Indian national), Kausalla Talukdar (33), Royal Talukder (17), Rony Lamin (34), and Shorobindu Biswas (37) were identified as Bangladeshi. According to preliminary findings, these people had crossed the border with the intention of going to Assam in search of work.

Significantly, security forces in the Sabroom area of Tripura have arrested five people for illegally crossing the international boundary, including two citizens of Bangladesh. On duty team from the Border Security Force arrested the group when they allegedly spotted them trying to enter India at Jalkumba village. Three Indians and two Bangladeshis made up the five people, according to Sabroom Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nityananda Sarkar. The event has prompted the filing of a formal complaint at the Sabroom police station.

It was discovered that the three Indian nationals had been stuck because of regional turmoil while visiting a close relative in Bangladesh. When things got better, the group tried to go back to Sabroom, but the police caught them. Especially in the northeastern area, where the force has been successful in preventing infiltrations, decreasing smuggling, and reducing contraband, the BSF has been attentive in defending India’s borders. This incident emphasises how crucial border security is and how constant watchfulness is required to stop unauthorised crossings. The Sabroom police are presently keeping the arrested individuals in custody while they conduct additional investigations.
