RAIPUR: Dozens of people associated with as many as 11 families reverted to Sanatan in a Ghar Wapsi ceremony held in Ram Nagar of Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday, November 3. The Ghar Wapsi ceremony was organised under the banner of Maa Bhuvneshwari Jan Kalyan Samiti.

The attendees participated in Hindu Ekta Shatchandi Maha Yagya and returned to the religion of their ancestors in the presence of Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shashtri, Peethadhishwar of Bageshwar Dham, a revered site for Sanatan Dharma followers in Madhya Pradesh.

Addressing the devotees during the program, Baba Bageshwar (Pandit Shashtri) said that “continuous atrocities are being done to Hindus and the community has become like a minority in around 200 districts. In such a situation the Sanatan Society needs to stage a united fight against the vicious cycle of Love Jihad, Changai Sabha (a religious praying ceremony prevalent among the Christian community in Bharat) etc”.

“It’s a right time to make Bharat a Hindu Rashtra, let’s take a resolve that we will not sit down idly until we make Bharat a Hindu Rashtra,” added Pandit Shashtri.

The Ghar Wapsi rituals was headed by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and head of Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapsi Abhiyan, Prabal Pratap Judev who along with BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from Kanker Bhojraj Nag welcomed the devotees by washing their feet with sacred Gangajal. The program was also attended by former MP Mohan Mandavi, incumbent MLA of the area, Asharam Netam and others.

Speaking at the program Judev said that “History is witness, wherever Hindus were converted that piece of land was cut from Bharat, this inspires me to continue walking on the path shown by my late father Dilip Singh Judev who commenced the Ghar Wapsi campaign”.

“I will continue walking on this path and will help moving it forward till I exist here,” added, Judev who has been at the forefront of such ceremonies aimed at reuniting those who had converted to other religion under the influence of missionaries.

It is noteworthy that the state of Chhattisgarh has a significant population of tribals, a community affected heavily by illegal conversion being promoted by missionaries and the people part of their broader apparatus.

Continuous attempt made at converting the local tribals for years has led to a change in demographic at several places, particularly in remote areas of Surguja and Bastar, largely inhabited by the tribal community. To contain the rampant conversion of the local tribal community, Ghar Wapsi ceremonies are often being organised by the Hindu activists.

Around hundred people hailing from 22 families were reverted to Sanatan in a similar ceremony held in district headquarters of Surguja, Ambikapur on September 29. The program was organised on the last day of three-day religious conference namely ‘Vishal Hindu Rashtra Dharm Sabha’ organised under the banner of Shankrayacharya Swagat Samiti.

Swami Nischhalanand Saraswati Ji, Peethadhiswar of Rigvedic Govardhan Math, Puri along with Prabal Pratap Judev welcomed the elated returnees by garlanding them. Those who made a return in the religion of their ancestor were reported to had embraced other religions under the influence of certain groups.

Notably, in a similar Ghar Wapsi ceremony held recently, hundreds of people belonging to over 50 families had reverted to Sanatan Dharma on the last day of ‘Vanvasi Ram Katha’ and Maha Yajna in Kandari village of Chando in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh on May 17.

The ceremony was organised on the last day of Vanvasi Ram Katha, a nine-day program held in Kandari village of Chando, where Acharya Sadanand Ji Maharaj, a revered ‘Kathawachak’ from Vrindavan had arrived to give sermons based on the life of Bhagwan Sri Ram.
