The Department of Tourism is preparing customised packages for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, scheduled to be held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025. With a focus on offering unique experiences that combine faith, culture, and global unity, these packages are designed to attract tourists and pilgrims alike, promising to make the event even more memorable.

One of the key features being planned is helicopter rides that will give attendees breathtaking aerial views of the sacred sites, especially the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, which hold deep spiritual significance. These rides will not only allow visitors to marvel at the grandeur of the fair but also offer serene, panoramic views of the riverfront.

Additionally, tourists can immerse themselves in social camping by staying in luxury tents and cottages. These accommodation options are expected to enhance the traditional pilgrimage experience by combining comfort with cultural engagement.

The packages are being designed to cater to a wide range of audiences, including those seeking a deeper spiritual experience. Alongside the helicopter rides, “pravachans” (spiritual discourses) are planned to enlighten visitors, deepening their understanding of spirituality. These pravachans, coupled with cultural performances, aim to connect modern pilgrims with the rich spiritual heritage of the Mahakumbh.

In a statement, Minister of Culture and Tourism Jaiveer Singh emphasised the government’s commitment to making Mahakumbh 2025 a success. He highlighted the collaboration between the state government and six private companies that will work together to develop nearly 2,000 luxury tents and 55 special cottages to house the expected influx of visitors. Singh noted that these accommodations are aimed at those with higher spending capacities, including categories such as villas, deluxe rooms, and luxury cottages. A villa that can accommodate four people will be available for Rs 35,000 per day. Maharaja cottage for two will be available for Rs 24,000 and a Deluxe cottage will be available for Rs 12,000 per day. There are around 20 dormitories costing Rs 1500 per bed for one night.

The collaboration is expected to bring in large numbers of domestic and international tourists, and the department hopes the tailor-made packages will attract even more pilgrims. Singh also assured that other categories of accommodation will be available at varying price points to ensure inclusivity.

The tent city at Arail will feature these luxury accommodations. Each tent or cottage will provide visitors with an upgraded stay, while still retaining the authentic Kumbh Mela experience. Lalloji & Sons, a leading player in the travel and tourism industry, along with Aagman India Travel & Living Private Limited, NexGen Exhibits, Adhvanta Hospitality Pvt Ltd, Era Events & Sri Balaji Exims and RD Advertising Pvt. Ltd., are the six companies to cater to both spiritual and recreational needs of visitors.

To facilitate easy bookings for Mahakumbh, the department is developing six legitimate websites through which visitors can book tent or cottage accommodations. Special care is being taken to avoid fraudulent websites that might mislead pilgrims and tourists. These websites can only be accessed through the official tourism department website.

Tourism officials are actively engaging in efforts to prevent fraud during the Mahakumbh. They have cautioned against false offers of packages and fake websites that could defraud unsuspecting visitors. As Mahakumbh 2025 nears, the government is implementing various awareness campaigns to educate the public on how to make secure bookings.

In addition to luxury accommodations and helicopter rides, the Department of Tourism is organising one-day walking tours of Kumbh Village to highlight the Mahakumbh’s religious and historical significance. These tours, priced at Rs 10,000 per day, will explore the Akharas, Naga Sadhus, Aghoris, and Kalpwasis. For those seeking wellness experiences, sessions of pranayama and meditation will be available for Rs 20,000 per day for groups of five tourists. Helicopter joyrides are anticipated to cost between Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,200, though the vendor is yet to be finalised.

The Mahakumbh is a once-in-12-years event, drawing millions of devotees, sadhus, and tourists from all over the world. This year, the government hopes to enhance the experience with these added luxuries, all while ensuring that the spiritual sanctity of the fair remains intact.

The countdown to Mahakumbh 2025 has already begun, and with these initiatives in place, the government is hopeful that it will not only uphold its spiritual and cultural legacy but also open new avenues for tourism in India.
