Padma Bhushan awardee and former chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Dr K Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) annual Vijayadashami celebrations on October 12, 2024 at Reshimbagh, Nagpur.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7:40 am. Vijayadashami Utsav is a significant occasion for the RSS as it is the foundation day of the organisation. This year Sangh will be celebrating its 100th foundation day.

Dr K Radhakrishnan will grace the event as the Chief Guest. Dr Radhakrishnan’s distinguished career in India’s space exploration efforts adds prestige to the occasion.

The highlight of the event will be the keynote address by the Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat.

Notably, the RSS celebrates six major festivals each year with great enthusiasm, all of which are deeply rooted in Sanatan Dharma.

Although all festivals are of equal importance for the swayamsevaks, Vijayadashami Mahotsav holds a special place in their hearts, as the RSS was founded on Vijayadashami (27 September 1925).

It is to be noted that next year, the RSS will be completing 100 years and in this year’s RSS Samanvay Baithak, the main focus was on the Sangh’s centenary year celebrations.

To mark the significant milestone of 100 years, the RSS has proposed taking social transformation activities to the mass level.

Five key initiatives, known as Panch Parivartan, will take place from Vijayadashami 2025 to Vijayadashami 2026, in which all inspired organisations will participate.

These initiatives include:

1. Social Harmony (Samajik Samrasta): Promoting social harmony by involving various organisations in social initiatives.

2. Family Awakening (Kutumbh Prabodhan): Strengthening families, especially in urban areas and modern times, to contribute to nation-building and social transformation.

3. Environmental Issues: Addressing environmental concerns by promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle through social participation.

4. Selfhood (Swa): Ensuring that our systems, language, and lifestyle reflect selfhood and decolonisation.

5. Civic Duties: As we celebrate the 75th year of independence, it is essential to emphasise not only our rights but also our civic duties. This will involve engaging various sections of society in understanding and fulfilling their responsibilities.

These five initiatives will be launched at the mass level during the centenary year in 2025.
