NEW DELHI: A disturbing incident during the sacred festival of Navratri in Delhi has sparked outrage among devotees of Sanatan Dharma. In the Tees Hazari area, a group of worshipers carrying the holy Jyoti from Jhandewala Devi Mandir faced an attack when Islamists desecrated their religious procession by throwing meat pieces on the sacred ‘Jyoti’. This act, perceived as an insult to the Sanatan Dharma and to Devi Ma has raised concerns about religious harmony and the protection of sacred traditions in the capital.

Navratri, a sacred festival of the Hindus, is celebrated with immense enthusiasm and grandeur worldwide. However, during this auspicious period, a disturbing incident occurred in the capital city of Delhi on October 3, which is seen as an attack on Sanatan Dharma.

The incident took place in the Tees Hazari area of Delhi. For many years, it has been a long-standing tradition for devotees to visit temples, often traveling from distant places, to worship Jyoti, a manifestation of Devi Maa. After offering prayers, they bring the sacred Jyoti back to their homes or villages as part of their devotion.

On Thursday night, a group of devotees were on their way home after collecting Jyoti from the  renowned temple, Jhandewala Devi Mandirin Delhi. However, as they were traveling, they encountered individuals who disrupted their religious practice by desecrating the Jyoti and throwing meat on it. The attack reportedly occurred around 2 a.m. This incident is perceived as a direct assault on the beliefs of Sanatan Dharma, and it is not the first such case to happen in the capital.

This act has caused deep outrage among devotees and is seen as an intentional effort to insult their faith. The incident has raised concerns about religious harmony and the protection of sacred traditions in the city, especially during such a significant festival as Navratri.
