Speaking about the matter, Tapas Das, the Officer-in-Charge of GRP at the Agartala Railway Station, stated that they were notified about the arrival of individuals who were illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. 14 people are being held at the Agartala Railway Station. Eleven of them are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who entered the country without authorization. They arrived at the Agartala Railway Station with the intention of going to Tamil Nadu and Gujarat in pursuit of employment.
Three Indian touts who were helping them have also been taken into custody. Police produced the arrested Bangladeshi intruders in a local court and they were sent to police custody by the court for further investigation. Their cell phones have been confiscated, along with some cash from Bangladesh and India. The districts of Khagrachari and Narail in Bangladesh are home to the majority of Bangladeshi citizens. They acknowledged that they had come to India illegally with the help of touts to work in factories as labour in big cities of states like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. One of the Indian touts is from Silchar, Assam, according to the OC. In the meantime, four Bangladeshi infiltrators were caught by the Assam Police in the Karimganj region of Assam near the Indo-Bangladesh border.
