Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai condemns political ‘Untouchability’ at tribute event for late RSS Pracharak P P Mukundan

Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai denounced political 'untouchability' as a crime during a tribute event for late Senior RSS Pracharak P P Mukundan in Kozhikode. Goa Governor Adv P S Sreedharan Pillai, during an address in Kozhikode, condemned the notion of ‘untouchability’ in politics, calling it a crime. His comments came in response to recent discussions surrounding the meeting between M R  Ajitkumar IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in charge of Law and Order, and RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale along with BJP leader Ram Madhav. Governor Pillai remarked that such debates only occur in Kerala, effectively branding a section of the public as second-class citizens and undermining democracy. He further asserted that the RSS does not require publicity, dismissing the need for explanations.

P S Sreedharan Pillai, while inaugurating the ‘Vande Mukundam’ programme in Kozhikode, held in honor of the first death anniversary of senior RSS Pracharak and former BJP organising secretary for Dakshin Bharat, P P Mukundan, emphasised the leader’s dedication to the nation. Referring to Mukundan, affectionately known as ‘Mukundettan’, the Governor praised his selfless service, calling him a role model for politicians and a leader par excellence.

During the event, Governor Pillai presented the first-ever “Seva Award” to Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi. The award recognised Suresh Gopi’s significant charitable contributions, with the Governor commending the matinee idol’s philanthropic work.

Following the presentation of the “Seva Award,” Union Minister Suresh Gopi addressed the audience, expressing his disdain for the political ‘untouchability’ he sees in Kerala, referencing the recent controversies surrounding the alleged meetings between ADGP M.R. Ajitkumar, RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, and BJP leader Ram Madhav. Gopi questioned the credibility of those who criticise the RSS, stating, “Those who promote untouchability are as irresponsible as those who practise it.” He urged the public to boycott anyone who denies them the right to live freely.

Reflecting on his close bond with the late P.P. Mukundan, whom he regarded as his “political guru,” Gopi shared how he had achieved the vision Mukundan had for him. He added that the legacy of ‘Mukundettan’ still lingers, with his influence continuing to be felt.

P P  Mukundan began his journey as a Sangh Pracharak in 1967 during his teenage years. Throughout his extensive organisational career, he held several key positions, including Taluk Pracharak, Zilla Pracharak, Vibhag Pracharak, Kerala Pranth Sampark Pramukh, BJP State Organising Secretary, Dakshin Kshethra Organising Secretary, and Managing Director of Janmabhumi Malayalam daily. Mukundan passed away in September 2023, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to the nation.

Goa Governor P S  Sreedharan Pillai, who began his social life as a Bala Swayamsevak in the 1960s, recalled Mukundan as his Taluk Pracharak during those formative years.
