Rahul Gandhi: Opposition Leader or Pak-Chinese Ambassador?

There was a period when the world waited expectantly for the views of global leaders of the United States, the Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom. Similarly, nations worldwide watch for every word from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are several causes for India’s rising relevance on the global stage. Importantly, India’s influence in global politics has grown significantly. India has the world’s fifth-largest economy, fourth-greatest military strength, and has the highest human resource potential. In addition, a stable internal administration and a robust foreign policy have boosted India’s worldwide political influence. This is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who leads it all, is now seen as a global leader. His remarks are valued equally with India’s opinion. It was the same with previous leaders of countries such as the United States, the Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom.

However, several recent occurrences are harming India’s standing throughout the world. Chief among them are Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s immature words and conduct on foreign soil. The most recent example is his visit to the United States. It’s unclear why he opted to visit the USA at this time. After all, just a few days remain till Modi’s official visit to the United States, which the world anxiously awaits. The meeting of the world’s two most powerful leaders of state is tied to Bangladesh’s issues, the wars in Ukraine and Russia, the conflict between Palestine and Israel, and so on. During the visit, US President Joe Biden will also convene a meeting of the four-nation Indo-Pacific Alliance, which is led by the United States and India and includes Japan and Australia. The alliance, which was formed to ensure security in the Asian region, is a serious challenge to China’s unilateral actions. Therefore, meetings in the United States are a disturbance for China. Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate various economic ties during this visit. So, the Modi-Biden summit has a geopolitical and economic strategy of utmost importance.

However, it is unclear if Rahul Gandhi possesses the intellectual maturity and sense of responsibility required to serve as the opposition leader of a global power. It is not the first time an opposition leader from one country has visited another and made remarks. However, opposition leaders from the world’s key countries take great care while visiting other countries. This is because they are convinced that they are not the leader of an undeveloped nation but rather the opposition leader of a responsible country with a significant effect on global affairs. For example, when opposition party leaders from the United States and Britain visit India, they advise on what the two nations should do in terms of economics and politics and call for closer ties. However, Rahul Gandhi’s actions in the USA embarrassed India, its government, and its people in front of the international community. He makes pronouncements on foreign land that should be considered domestic policy in the media and India’s parliament. Today, he thinks of Congress-era India and her poor place in global affairs. He is unaware of the status and importance that his position has gained as a result of the rise of India in the last decade. In short, he has merely passed the technical requirement of 55 MPs to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Rahul Gandhi poses a major threat to national security. The Home Minister made this declaration during Gandhi’s meeting with several anti-India powers centred in the United States. Ilha Omar, a Democrat MP, plays a crucial role in this. She initiated motions in the US Congress, criticising different policies implemented by India. She condemned India’s move to withdraw Article 370, which provided Jammu and Kashmir special status. She visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and questioned India’s sovereignty. Besides, She met with former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to address Islamophobia in India and is at the forefront of spreading hatred towards Hindus. In this sense, Rahul Gandhi relies on people fighting against India’s integrity to obtain power. He was willing to denigrate the Sikh community and India to get support from the Khalistanis. Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks and body language indicate that both China and Pakistan are equally concerned when Modi takes steps to protect India’s national security.

After a decade, voters were ready to accept the Congress as the opposition party in 2014; hence, the party’s popular penalty was relaxed. However, as soon as they regained their stamina with 99 seats, they resumed their anti-national activities. Above all, Indians residing abroad are the primary weapon in Narendra Modi’s foreign policy. They do several favours for the country at his request. However, Rahul Gandhi is pursuing policies contrary to the country’s interests, calling all of this into question. He now demonstrates that he can collaborate with any harmful force to gain dominance. Nobody would anticipate such a policy from a responsible opposition party and its leader. In short, the official statements that were supposed to be released by the embassies of Pakistan and China in the United States were born from the mouth of the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi. It can be said that he has become the Pak-Chinese Ambassador to the US.
