In a heartfelt tribute to the founder and martyr of the Punjab Kesari Group, Lala Jagat Narayan, a remarkable achievement was realised on the 43rd anniversary of his death. Across eight states and three Union Territories, 196 blood donation camps were organised, collectively amassing a record-breaking 17,613 units of blood. This monumental effort reflects the enduring legacy of a man who dedicated his life to the unity and integrity of the nation.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Punjab Kesari Group, was launched in 2017 with a vision to honor Lala Jagat Narayan’s sacrifice and promote a culture of giving. Over the years, the campaign has seen significant growth. The first blood donation camp in 2017 collected 2,574 units. This number steadily increased with subsequent years, reaching 4,620 units in 2018, 6,066 units in 2019, and 5,349 units in 2022. The highest collection record of 13,512 units was set in 2023. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no camps were held in 2020 and 2021.
The 2024 campaign saw a staggering increase in participation, with the following units collected across various states and Union Territories:
- Punjab: 78 camps – 10,531 units
- Haryana: 27 camps – 2,812 units
- Himachal Pradesh: 12 camps – 735 units
- Uttar Pradesh: 30 camps – 1,209 units
- Uttarakhand: 10 camps – 455 units
- Madhya Pradesh: 12 camps – 437 units
- Rajasthan: 3 camps – 451 units
- Bihar: 7 camps – 246 units
- Delhi-NCR: 8 camps – 305 units
- Chandigarh Tricity: 6 camps – 363 units
- Jammu and Kashmir: 3 camps – 69 units
