Raipur: Jashpur police on Sunday, September 1 arrested an accused for raping a minor school girl on the pretence of offering her a lift. The accused Salim Sain, a resident of Chidora of Kansebal was nabbed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) hours after the case was registered by the police.

According to the details of the case, the accused Salim (30) tricked the minor girl by convincing her that she has been selected in the school team for a game and her school teacher has asked her to reach Jashpur. The accused then offered the victim girl to drop her at the said location on his bike and subsequently took her to a deserted place and raped her.

The accused later dropped the victim girl near her school, following which she somehow managed to reach home and narrated her ordeal to the family members. Learning about the incident the family members then accompanied the victim to the police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.

The police after lodging a First Information Report (FIR) initiated a probe immediately by forming a SIT into the case, which subsequently launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Based on the information provided by the victim, the police team checked the records of the bike showrooms of the area leading to apprehension of the accused from Chidora village.
