The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), in its Kendriya Karya Samiti Baithak held at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Mumbai from August 15-17, has decided to launch a nationwide campaign demanding corrections in labour codes.
In the meeting, the Kendriya Karya Samiti of BMS strongly opposed three anti-labour provisions: the Industrial Relations Code, Occupational Safety, Health Code and Working Conditions Code.
The Samiti further demanded that Social Security Code and the Code on Wages must be implemented as soon as possible as these codes contain pro-labour reforms and provisions.
“The BMS will organise one-day conventions in 15 major cities of India to create awareness on the four labour codes before September 5. After that, demonstrations will be organised at the District Headquarters to mount pressure on the government to correct the other two codes,” an official press release reads.
The Kendriya Karya Samiti was presided over by Hiranmay Pandya, President, BMS, has taken three important decisions: a nationwide campaign on labour codes; an agitation demanding enhancement of the minimum pension; and mass contact with workers (not less than 1 crore) from different sectors.
“On September 19, 2024, demonstrations will be organised before all the EPFO Regional Offices, demanding enhancement of the minimum pension under EPS 95 from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 and linking it with Variable Dearness Allowance, along with the provision of Ayushman Bharat Yojana,” it further reads.
During the Kendriya Karya Samiti meeting, it was decided to observe December 1 to 15 as Shramik Sampark Pakhwada (Workers’ Contacting Fortnight), during which workers and employees from different areas and industries will be personally contacted. This will be part of the BMS’s 70th-year celebrations. The achievements of BMS and its affiliated unions during the last seven decades will be explained to workers during this mass contact program.
A total of 160 Kendriya Karya Samiti members from 26 states and 41 All India Federations attended this meeting.
