Mandya: The removal of the Hanuman Flag from KR Pete in Mandya district has sparked  protest by the karyakartas of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.  The BJP and pro-Hindu organisations have criticised the ruling Congress government for the removal of the flag. This action has provoked Hindu Sangathan workers to protest at the location, expressing their outrage.

Workers said the Bhagwadhwaja had been flying at TB Circle  in KR pete for decades. A few days ago, the Keregodu municipal officials   removed the flag, prompting Hindu activists to reinstall it on Saturday. In addition to the flag,  a Kalash  which have drawings  of prominent figures such as  Kempegowda, Dr BR Ambedkar, Sangolli Rayanna, Basavanna, and Vishwakarma were placed at the site. However, late at night, municipal officials once again removed the flagpole along with the Bhagwadhwaja and the portraits.

In response, activists from Hindu organisations staged a dharna at the location early in the morning, protesting the municipality’s actions. The protesters expressed their anger towards the municipal officials, accusing them of disrespecting their religious symbols and the portraits of revered figures.

This incident has added to the ongoing tension between the BJP, pro-Hindu organisations, and the Congress government. The BJP and its allies have been vocal in their criticism, accusing the government of being anti-Hindu and disrespectful towards Hindu sentiments. The municipal officials, on the other hand, have not provided a   explanation for their actions, which has only fueled further speculation and unrest.

A municipal official told Organiser that  in a clear circular  state government instructed all kinds of religious  symbols , flags, posters , murtis in public places should be removed. We following the guidelines only.
