Mysuru: The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam continues to escalate, now directly implicating Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. A formal complaint has been filed at the Vijayanagar police station against CM Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, CMs brother in law Mallikarjunaswamy, original land owner Devaraju, and his family, accusing them of defrauding MUDA and obtaining land worth crores through fraudulent documents.
The complaint, lodged by social worker Snehamayi Krishna, also implicates the Deputy commissioner , Tehsildar, Deputy Registrar, and MUDA officials in the alleged scam. Krishna has not only filed a police complaint but has also written to the Governor, the State Chief Secretary, and the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, raising several questions about the legitimacy of the land transactions. In his complaint Krishna raised Doubts regarding the state paper which was allegedly abandoned by the land acquisition.
Speaking to reporters he raised questions about the legitimacy of Devaraj, who is claimed to be the son of the original landowner. If the land acquisition was abandoned in 1998, why do the RTCs (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops) mention land acquisition until 2010? If Devaraju and later Mallikarjunaswamy owned the land, why didn’t the authorities halt the development work? Whether proper checks were made while transferring the account in the name of Mallikarjuna and Parvathi. How was the land recorded as agricultural despite MUDA’s development? Absence of critical documents, such as the family tree of the original landowner and death certificates.
Krishna alleges that the land, supposedly owned by MUDA, was denotified as agricultural land using fake documents, leading to the acquisition of 14 replacement plots as compensation. The complaint asserts that BM Mallikarjuna, under Siddaramaiah’s influence, fraudulently registered the land purchase and donation deeds, with the land eventually being donated to BM Parvathi in 2010.
The Vijayanagar police have acknowledged the complaint but referred it to the government’s investigation team, already constituted to look into the illegal allotment of MUDA land. Inspector Suresh Kumar of the Vijayanagar police station told Organiser that as another agency already probing about issue we cannot launch probe in to the same issue , hence we refererd the same to SIT . Additionally, Krishna has demanded action against all implicated officials and family members of the original landowner, Devaraju.
Congress MLC H Vishwanath raised serious allegations against MUDA and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the allocation of plots in the city. Vishwanath questioned the fairness of the process and alleged discrimination in plot allocations.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the way his family was treated compared to Siddaramaiah’s family. Despite both families applying for plots around the same time, Vishwanath claimed that his family was denied a plot in the Vijayanagar locality while Siddaramaiah’s family was granted one.
Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday BJP state president BY Vijayendra has made serious allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife, Parvathi, in connection with MUDA scam. According to Vijayendra, Parvathi received Rs 2 crore beyond her entitlement and was allotted 14 valuable plots, far exceeding what she should have received. Vijayendra stated that Parvathi should have been allocated only two plots based on merit. However, she was given 14 plots, which were valued at Rs 9,000 per square meter.
Parvathi, the wife of CM Siddaramaiah, owned 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village, Mysore. In 2014, she complained to MUDA that this land had been used by the authority. An investigation was initiated in 2017, and in 2021, it was decided that she would be compensated with 14 plots, significantly more than the two plots she was entitled to.
He also alleged that on April 15 of this year, 42 plots were allocated to a single individual, highlighting the extent of the irregularities. He accused the current government of illegally distributing thousands of plots since taking office.
He further accused CM Siddaramaiah of attempting to mislead the public regarding the case, claiming that the Chief Minister’s involvement in the MUDA scandal is becoming increasingly apparent.
He alleged the details of the scandal emerged, housing minister Bhairati Suresh rushed to Mysore, hastily called a meeting, gathered information, and transferred all officers in an attempt to cover up the scandal.
Earlier, Mysuru deputy commissioner K Rajendra had conducted an investigation into the MUDA scam and submitted a report to the government in February 2024 . However, he was subsequently transferred in June raising suspicions of a cover-up. Additionally, all files from MUDA’s office have been moved to Bangalore, further complicating the investigation.
Speaking to mediapersons after his first visit to Mysuru after scam came to light Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. They are disputing my wife’s issue, but I have not asked to give a site in Vijayanagar.”
“They claimed that I had illegally acquired our land. The site was given saying it was a mistake. What is the controversy in this?” He criticized the opposition for threatening protests and a siege, stating that an investigation into MUDA irregularities is already underway under the leadership of two IAS officers. “If the investigation finds any wrongdoing, we will take strict action against everyone involved,” he assured. Responding to calls for handing over the case to the CBI, Siddaramaiah questioned, “Are our police not competent? Tell me how many cases BJP has given to the CBI, which seems to have CBI for everything.”
“Our police are capable of investigating. The CM categorically denied that the MUDA case would be handed over to the CBI,” he concluded.
