In Medak town, Telangana, tensions have escalated following the stabbing of BJYM karyakarta Raj Arun, allegedly by a Muslim mob, on June 15. The incident occurred during a peaceful march to the police station to complain about the illegal slaughtering of cows in the town.
According to local sources, on Saturday, activists from the Gow Samrakshana Samiti and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) identified cows being held in the Bangla Cheruvu area, suspected to be kept for illegal slaughter. Acting on this tip, the police arrived and seized the animals. The activists also reported another location in Narsikhed, where an Islamic madrasa was allegedly keeping 70 more cows for slaughter. Before the police could arrive, Hindus attempting to reach the madrasa were attacked with sticks and rods by madrasa members.
Following these incidents, Hindus gathered at a local Ramalaya temple to organize a complaint at the police station. The situation intensified as Muslims wielded weapons and made provocative gestures against the peaceful protestors. While the Hindus were marching towards the police station, near the Shivaji statue, a member of the Muslim mob armed with knives and swords stabbed Raj Arun. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
To control the escalating situation, the police conducted a lathi charge, injuring several Hindus. Additionally, another Muslim mob pelted stones from the rooftops of the Hospital at Hindus gathered at the police station, further amplifying the chaos. Shops at Ramdas Chowrasta and the old bus stand were vandalized in the ensuing unrest.

In response to what they perceived as police high-handedness against Hindus instead of cow smugglers, BJP Medak District unit called for a bandh on Sunday, with BJYM and Gow Samrakshana Samiti supporting the call. The situation remains tense, with authorities closely monitoring developments.
As the situation was escalating further, later in the day, the police detained Gaddam Srinivas, BJP Medak district president, regarding violence in Medak town along with 8 others from BJYM and BJP.
Today, BJP MLA Raja Singh visited the injured karyakartas at Hospital.
