Three individuals were arrested for attempting to enter the new Parliament building using fake Aadhaar cards, highlighting a major security breach. During a routine security check on June 7 morning, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intercepted the suspects, identified as Kasim, Monis, and Shoaib.
The trio, reportedly hired by ‘DV Projects Limited’ for work in the MP lounge, was detained at one entry gate when discrepancies in their identification documents were discovered. The CISF personnel’s vigilance revealed that Monis and Kasim displayed the same Aadhaar card number with different photos, raising an alert.
The Delhi Police have charged the suspects under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including forgery (Section 465), cheating by personation (Section 419), criminal conspiracy (Section 120B), using a forged document as genuine (Section 471), and forgery for cheating (Section 468). The individuals were working under contractor Sahnawaj Alam, who was hired for construction work in the MP lounge.
According to the FIR, the CISF official deployed at Parliament House Iron Gate No. 03 detected the three workers at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon on June 4. The forged documents, used under a conspiracy, showed that Kasim impersonated Monis. The investigation suggests that either one or both Aadhaar cards of Monis and Kasim were forged.
This incident follows a severe security breach in the Lok Sabha on December 13, 2023, the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament attack. During a session in the Lok Sabha, two individuals armed with coloured smoke canisters vaulted from the visitors’ gallery into the parliamentary chamber, causing alarm and disruption.
The Lok Sabha’s CCTV system captured the breach, which showed one of the intruders skillfully navigating desks to evade capture while the second released coloured smoke within the gallery. The intruders’ actions caused chaos, but prompt intervention by Lok Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs) and security personnel led to their swift apprehension.
In addition to the two intruders inside the Parliament, two more individuals—a man and a woman—were detained outside the Parliament premises. They carried coloured smoke canisters that detonated upon discovery, emitting red and yellow smoke. This incident took place when BJP MP Khagen Murmu raised an issue during a session with BJP’s Rajendra Agrawal in the chair.
The breach occurred during Zero Hour, a period allocated for members to raise matters of urgent public importance. The incident led to a temporary adjournment of the House until 2 p.m.
In response to the previous breach, security protocols were overhauled with strict measures to reduce contact between MPs and visitors. A media briefing centre has been set up for media interactions at UN20 in the North Utility Building of Parliament House. Additionally, a Smart ID Card-based Visitor Management System has been implemented, providing smart identity cards for members and regulating access with the help of a Facial Recognition System.
