On June 4, the results for the Lok Sabha elections were declared, producing outcomes that surpassed the expectations of both psephologists and exit polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party in the country.

The final tally revealed that the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), TDP, and other allies, secured 292 seats, well above the 272-seat majority required to form the government. Of these, the BJP alone claimed 240 seats, while Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) won 12 seats, and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP secured 16 seats, contributing a combined total of 28 seats to the NDA’s victory.

Conversely, the INDI Alliance, which includes the Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and others, obtained a total of 234 seats. Within this alliance, the Congress secured 99 seats, the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP won 37 seats, and the TMC claimed 29 seats.

In a surprising move, the Congress has offered to provide outside support to the I.N.D.I. Alliance without pushing for a prime ministerial candidate from their party.

Sources quoted by Times Now indicate that the Congress has communicated to other I.N.D.I. Alliance parties that they are free to decide on the prime ministerial candidate. Notably, after the Congress, the Samajwadi Party holds the maximum number of seats in the alliance.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi submitted his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu, with a meeting of the NDA Alliance partners scheduled for today. The BJP is set to form the government for the third consecutive term.

There have been speculations of JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and the TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu joining the I.N.D.I. alliance however, both leaders are set to join the NDA meeting. There have been posters installed in Bihar that Nitish is part of the NDA.

Narendra Modi is poised to become the first incumbent prime minister to secure a third consecutive term since Jawaharlal Nehru did so in 1962. In 2019, Modi became the first prime minister to win re-election with a majority since Indira Gandhi’s achievement 48 years earlier.

Highlighting the numerous significant decisions taken by the BJP for the nation’s benefit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that the BJP-led NDA government will embark on a new chapter of decisive governance in its third term.

Addressing the public at the BJP headquarters in the national capital as the counting of Lok Sabha election votes neared completion, Modi declared, “If you work 10 hours, Modi will work 18 hours. If you take 2 steps, Modi will take 4 steps. We Indians will walk together and move the country forward. The country will write a new chapter on making big decisions in the third term. And this is the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’.”
