Guwahati: A heinous crime jolted the Bongaigaon district in Assam on May 29. Three people abducted and gang-raped a minor girl in Bhadara Gaon under the Vidyapur police station. Locals accused the criminals of abducting and buying a minor girl in an isolated house amid heavy rain on a motorcycle and gang-raping her. As per the report, locals learned about the heinous crime after hearing the screaming of the minor victim. The accused persons were identified as Iliyas Ali, Shahidul Rahman, and Isaruddin Ahmed.

Eyewitnesses said that the villagers gathered at the spot and rescued the minor victim. The public also captured two criminals, and the third accused managed to flee from the spot. Locals immediately informed the Vidyapur police. A police team reached the spot and arrested the accused persons captured by the public. Bongaigaon police immediately started search operations looking for the third criminal.

Later in the night, Bongaigaon police arrested the third criminal. The arrested accused persons were identified as Iliyas Ali, Shahidul Rahman, and Isaruddin Ahmed. The police conducted a medical examination of the victim girl. The arrested persons were produced in court, and they were sent to police custody for further investigation.

The medical report of the victim girl is not made public by the police. Police sources in Bongaigaon said that the investigation is ongoing and details of the incident will be made public after any progress is made by the investigation team. But the shocking incident jolts the people of the state.
