Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)  Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat received a traditional reception at the revered Sri Rangam Ranganatha Swamy temple during his visit to Trichy. Dr. Bhagwat, who has been staying in Trichy for the past four days, visited the temple and participated in various activities, including worshipping the deities and receiving honours from the temple priests.

The occasion marked Dr. Bhagwat’s attendance at the annual RSS camps being held across the country, including in Tamil Nadu, where the second-year varga camp was organised in Trichy at the Santhanam Vidylaya. During the camp, Dr. Bhagwat addressed the participants, offering insights and guidance on various matters of importance to the organization.

Arriving in Trichy on the May 13, via the Vande Bharat train, Dr. Bhagwat was warmly welcomed by Swayam Sewaks and RSS Promukhs, who gathered in large numbers at the railway station to greet him. Throughout his stay, security arrangements were intensified at Trichy Junction, Santhanam Vidyalaya, and Trichy Airport, with Central Reserve Police Force personnel and State Police ensuring his safety.

On the May 17, Dr. Bhagwat visited the Sri Rangam Ranganathar temple, where he received a traditional reception from the priests, Vaishnavite seers, trustees, and officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. He was given a tour of the temple, where he observed various rituals and received Prasad, including Tulasi garland and sacred silk thread pavitra malas.

The Sri Rangam Ranganathar temple, known as the world’s largest temple, spans across 156 acres and is dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu. It holds immense significance in Vaishnavite tradition and is one of the 108 main Vishnu temples or divya shetrams. The temple complex is characterised by its vast corridors, towering structures, and intricate sculptures, with over 600 ancient inscriptions adorning its walls.

Dr. Bhagwat’s visit to the temple follows in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who worshipped at Sri Ranganathaswamy temple prior to prana pratishta, clad in traditional Tamil attire. PM Modi’s visit marked a historic moment as he became the first Prime Minister to visit the temple. He also visited Rameswaram as part of his temple yatra, paying homage to Lord Ramanatha Swamy and furthering his journey through southern states linked with the Ramayana.

Tomorrow, Dr. Bhagwat is scheduled to depart from Santhanam Vidyalaya to Trichy Airport, where he will continue his journey to neighbouring Karnataka state via private plane. As his visit comes to a close, the impact of his presence and the significance of his engagements resonate throughout the community, marking a memorable occasion for all involved.
