Guwahati: Big breakthrough by Assam police. Two of the most wanted Bangladeshi terrorists were arrested in Guwahati on May 13 in an operation by the Special Branch. Based on the credible intelligence input,  the Assam Police Intelligence Department conducted an operation in the Paltan Bazar area of the city and two Bangladeshi terrorists were arrested. The two most wanted Islamist terrorists arrested were identified as Bahar Mia and Rachel Mia respectively.

Arrested Bahar Mia is from Brahmanbari district of Bangladesh and was linked with Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and the arrested terrorist

Rachel Mia who is from Dhaka is also linked with the Bangladesh based terrorist wing of Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) Ansarullah Bangla Team.

Both the arrested terrorists were on the most wanted list of the Indian security agencies.

They have been arrested and taken to the Special Branch headquarters in Guwahati. They have been booked by the Special Branch of Assam Police for further investigation.

Assam police Special Branch (SB) sources said that the two arrested persons entered Assam from Gujarat on 13th May. But how many days they were in Gujarat and the purpose of the visit by the most wanted terrorists to the state is under investigation. Police have not disclosed any details on that. Top level police and intelligence officials are now interrogating the arrested terrorists duo. Police sources said that the arrested terrorists Bahar Mia and Rachel Mia

were planning to travel to Tripura by train from Guwahati. The terrorists were in the Paltan Bazar railway station at the time of arrest. They were planning to board the Tripura Express and then cross the border in Tripura to enter Bangladesh. But the arrest of the two top Bangladeshi terrorists from Assam after their visit to Gujarat and other parts of the country amid ongoing general election remains a matter of security concern.
