After the gunfight, the personnel of DRG recovered the body of a male Maoist. The personnel have also recovered a weapon from the possession of the deceased Maoist whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

It is noteworthy that the security forces in recent months have amplified counter-insurgency operations in the Maoist affected regions of the State. According to the figures shared by the police as many as 81 Maoist have been killed during separate search operation launched by the forces in the last four months alone.

This includes the killing of as many as 29 Maoists who were killed following an intense exchange of fire with the security forces near Binnagunda- Hapatola forest area under Chotebethiya police station limits of Kanker district on April 16 this year.

Four held in Bijapur
