A few hours later, after the almost peaceful pools, in a tragic turn of events, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred in an attack allegedly carried out by a suspected Kuki terrorist in Manipur’s Naransena area. The attack, which commenced at midnight and persisted until 2:15 am, unfolded in the Naransena area situated in the Bishnupur district of the state.

The targeted personnel belonged to CRPF’s 128 Battalion, deployed in the Naransena area, adding to the gravity of the situation. Reports suggest that the assailants unleashed gunfire towards a village in the Naransena region, falling under the jurisdiction of the Moirang police station, Bishnupur District, around 00:45 hours on April 27. Tragically, a bomb launched by the armed terrorists landed and detonated inside the outpost of B/128 Bn CRPF at Naransena.

As a result of the explosion, four personnel sustained injuries, including Insp Jadav Das, SI N Sarkar, HC Arup Saini, and CT Aftab Hussain. Despite efforts to save them, SI N Sarkar and HC Arup Saini succumbed to their injuries, marking a sorrowful loss for their comrades and the nation.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh promptly denounced the attack, expressing his profound grief over the demise of the two CRPF personnel in the Naransena region of Bishnupur district. Describing the assault as an act of cowardice, Biren Singh reiterated his Government’s unwavering support for the security forces tirelessly striving to uphold peace and stability in the state. He offered assurances that the sacrifices made by these brave personnel would be remembered and honoured.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Chief Minister Biren Singh emphasised, “Strongly condemn the assault carried out against the Indian security forces, resulting in the tragic loss of two CRPF personnel in the Naransena area of Bishnupur district. Such actions demonstrate cowardice against dedicated security personnel who work tirelessly day and night to uphold peace and stability in the State. Their sacrifice will not go in vain.”
