Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at the Campus Law Center, along with students from LC 1 and LC 2, have initiated an indefinite sit-in protest to address various grievances including fee hikes, inadequate infrastructure, Wi-Fi connectivity issues, restroom conditions, classroom seating shortages, dysfunctional water coolers, and problems with sanitary vending machines.
The ABVP is demanding a reduction in increased fees imposed by the administration and a clear timeline for addressing the aforementioned issues. Despite previous submissions of memorandums to the administration, no action has been taken. The recent implementation of a fee hike has exacerbated student concerns.
Previously, students paid an annual fee of ₹4900, which included examination fees. However, the new fee structure requires students to pay ₹6010 annually, along with an additional ₹1100 examination fee per student.
Ashish Singh, ABVP Delhi State joint secretary, highlighted the financial burden on students from diverse economic backgrounds due to the fee hike. Alongside infrastructure challenges and sanitation issues, the increased fees are compounding student hardships. Despite previous appeals to the Law Faculty administration, the ABVP has initiated the sit-in protest to compel action. They pledge to continue the protest until their demands are addressed.
