In a shocking turn of events, a 20-year-old man identified as Mohammad Sameer Syed viciously murdered his ‘best friend’ Praneeth Teja, also 20, on Sunday, March 24. The chilling incident unfolded inside a parked private bus at APHB Colony grounds in Hyderabad, Telangana, sending shockwaves through the local community. The discovery of the deceased was made by the vehicle’s driver in the evening, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Sameer Syed has since been apprehended by authorities in connection with the heinous crime.
The tragic incident has brought the Balanagar police station area under scrutiny. According to sources close to the investigation, the accused and the victim shared a long-standing friendship, having grown up on the same street near the Balanagar police station. Sameer Syed resided in the vicinity with his mother and sister.
Reports suggest that Sameer harboured suspicions regarding his friend Praneeth’s alleged romantic involvement with his sister, which purportedly fueled his savage actions, particularly while under the influence of ganja.
The sequence of events leading to the ghastly crime began with a reported altercation at Sameer Syed’s residence on March 23.

Subsequently, on the morning of the fatal day, Sameer Syed allegedly lured Praneeth Teja out of his home under the guise of resolving the dispute. The two, having consumed alcohol and smoked ganja, made their way to a parked private bus in Balanagar. It was within the confines of the bus that the confrontation escalated, culminating in Praneeth’s brutal demise.
Accounts from authorities paint a gruesome picture of the incident. Sameer Syed is said to have mercilessly assaulted Praneeth, inflicting fatal wounds by slashing his neck and abdomen and gruesomely removing his intestines using a 15-inch knife.
Inspector Naveen Kumar of Balanagar provided harrowing details of the crime scene, confirming law enforcement’s swift response and subsequent actions to secure the area. Praneeth Teja’s body was promptly transported to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examinations, following protocol.
A formal complaint has been lodged by the deceased’s grieving mother, leading to the registration of a case against Sameer Syed, who remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
