Telangana and Puducherry Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has tendered her resignation to the President, Droupadi Murmu. Reports suggest that Dr Soundararajan is gearing up to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections from her home state of Tamil Nadu.
Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan assumed the role of Governor of Telangana on September 8, 2019, and later took charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on February 18, 2021.
Before her governor duties, Dr Soundararajan was actively involved in the political scene of BJP Tamil Nadu. Notably, she served as the prestigious Tamil Nadu BJP State President until 2019.
Dr Soundararajan’s journey within the BJP leadership spans several key roles, showcasing her dedication and expertise. From 2005 to 2007, she served as All India Co-Convener and State Spokesperson before advancing to the position of State General Secretary from 2007 to 2010. Continuing her ascent, Soundararajan became the State Vice President from 2010 to 2013 while maintaining her role as State Spokesperson.
Transitioning to a national level, she served as National Secretary of the All India BJP from 2013 to August 2014. Finally, from August 2014 until September 1st, 2019, Soundararajan led as the Tamil Nadu State President, playing a pivotal role in advancing the party’s agenda and representing its interests within the state.
During the BRS’s term in Telangana, Dr. Soundararajan accused KCR of failing to respect and uphold the position of governor and of attempting to obstruct her ability to carry out her official duties.
