In a tragic incident unfolding in Bihar’s Kaimur district, a Hindu woman paid the ultimate price for her interfaith relationship as she lost her life at the hands of her Muslim boyfriend. The grim episode unfolded on February 18 when Shafiq Ansari, a Muslim youth, allegedly slit the throat of his Hindu girlfriend and pushed her lifeless body from Manjhar Kund hill in Rohtas district. The victim’s body was discovered 20 days after the heinous crime.

The accused reportedly confessed to the police that he committed the gruesome act out of frustration, as his girlfriend had stopped communicating with him in the days leading up to the incident.

Bihar Police, in a statement to X, confirmed the arrest of the accused involved in the abduction and murder case under the jurisdiction of Bhabhua police station in Kaimur district. The recovered murder weapon, a knife, further corroborated the heinous nature of the crime.

Bhabua Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivshankar Kumar revealed on Sunday (March 10) that the accused, Shafiq, had been apprehended and remanded to judicial custody.

According to police investigations, the victim had travelled to her cousin’s residence in Rohtas on February 17th to appear for her high school exams. The accused, aged 21, lured the victim to his rented accommodation in Sasaram before leading her to Manjhar Kund Hill, where he brutally ended her life.

Family members of the victim raised an alarm when the 17-year-old failed to return home, prompting a missing person report. Following fruitless initial inquiries, the police delved into the angle of romantic involvement and established a connection between Shafiq Ansari and the victim. Subsequently, a police team apprehended Shafiq for interrogation.

In a chilling revelation during questioning, the accused confessed to the brutal murder. Shafiq admitted to being romantically involved with the victim but confessed that her recent silence had deeply disturbed him. On the fateful day, he orchestrated a meeting with the victim and, after purchasing apples and a fruit-cutting knife, led her to Manjhar Kund in Sasaram. Once there, he fatally stabbed the Hindu girl with the knife before callously disposing of her body down the hillside.

The police, acting on the information provided by the accused, recovered the victim’s body, clothing, and the murder weapon. Further investigations into the harrowing incident are underway.
