New Delhi: In a significant development, Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order, Bihar, Pankaj Darad on December 29 informed that 5 new regional units of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) will be setup in the state to monitor anti-national activities.
Interacting with the media personnel, Darad said that the new regional units will be setup in Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Purnia and Motihari districts of the state and the police headquarters have already sent a proposal about the same to the Home Department.
According to details, the regional units of the ATS will monitor and take required action under their jurisdiction. The newly established units will be assisted by the intelligence team which will be formed across all the districts to gather crucial intel.
The official added that prisons will also be monitored, and if any convicted criminal in anti-national activities comes out on bail, the special intel team will keep a watch on their activities.
The ADG further mentioned that technical teams of the police are also analysing the suspects likely to be involved in anti-national activities. He informed that a total of 176 radical profiles have been identified in the state, in 2025, through social media monitoring and a number of Individuals among them have also been de-radicalised after identification.
He noted that speedy trials are being conducted in 3 out of the 10 cases registered at ATS police stations while chargesheets have been submitted in all of the cases. The ADG underscored that 2 effective public outreach session have been organised as part of the De-radicalisation and public outreach program.
He added that a total of 294 sensitive institutions of state are being monitored and mock drills have been conducted in 41 out of them in 2025. He also informed about the House Intervention Team in which trained commandos have been deputed, noting that the number of such teams have increased from 8 to 11.
