The Bharatiya Janata Party Government of Chhattisgarh has announced tax-free the Yami Gautam starrer-article 370 movie in the State. The announcement was made on Friday, March 8 after the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai himself watched the film

Sai, who was accompanied by his wife and others at the Magneto Mall, praised the movie for depicting the situation of Kashmir on the big screen so well and announced that the movie will be shown tax-free in the State.

The CM, after watching the film, said that our ideology is about one country, one constitution, and one symbol. Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was inconsistent with this basic ideology. Our leaders have strongly opposed it since independence. We had resolved to remove Article 370.

Further, while taking to X CM Sai in a tweet, he asserted that “All of us workers have been raising slogans that ” Jahan huye balidan Mukherjee wo Kashmir hamara hai (Where Mukherjee made his sacrifice that Kashmir belongs to us)”, “There cannot be two constitutions and two identities in one nation,” our illustrious prime minister has fulfilled the dreams of every patriot by revoking Article 370.”

The movie has an interesting presentation, and it is worth watching for everyone. I have decided to make this film tax free in Chhattisgarh, added CM Sai.

It is noteworthy that the announcement to tax-free the movie in Chhattisgarh was made just a day after the Madhya Pradesh government announced a similar status for the film in the state. Announcing the decision on Thursday, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav on X informed that we have decided to tax-free “the Article 370” film in the State.

— Dr Mohan Yadav (@DrMohanYadav51) March 7, 2024

The bitter reality of Article 370 should reach the citizens; hence, we have decided to tax-free the film in Madhya Pradesh. Our Prime Minister has opened the door of immense development possibilities in Jammu and Kashmir by removing the stigma of “Article 370” from Jammu and Kashmir. The film gives an opportunity to closely understand the past and current circumstances of Jammu and Kashmir, added Yadav.

Article 370 film

Directed by Aditya Jambhale, the Article 370 film revolves around the abrogation of controversial provisions of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Yami Gautam starrer political drama has garnered praise from all quarters after it hit the theatres on February 23.

The film, which also features stars like Priyamani and Arun Govil has done exceptionally well at the box office, earning an impressive 59 crores till Friday. Thanking the audience for the response, Yami recently shared on X that so many people had told the makers that the film wouldn’t work with the audience, but the response has proven them wrong.

It must be noted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union Government revoked Article 370 on August 5, 2019, bifurcating the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir into Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The government’s move fulfilled the BJP’s long held manifesto promise of revoking the Article 370, with which the party has always aligned itself since the time of its formation.
