CJI DY Chandrachud Prioritises Well-being: Inaugurates Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre at Supreme Court

In a significant move towards promoting holistic healthcare, the Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, inaugurated the ‘Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre’ at the Supreme Court of India. The ceremony, held on February 22, witnessed the esteemed presence of Companion Judges of the Supreme Court, Sri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Cabinet Minister for Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, Minister of State for Ministry of Ayush and for Ministry of Women And Child Development.

Expressing his satisfaction, Chief Justice Chandrachud emphasized the importance of holistic lifestyle and Ayurveda, stating, “For me, this is a satisfying moment. I have been working on this ever since I took over as CJI. I am a proponent of Ayurveda and holistic lifestyle. We have over 2000 staff members, and we must look at a holistic pattern of living, not just for the judges and their immediate families but for the staff members too.” He extended his gratitude to the medical professionals at Ayush and highlighted the national significance of the initiative.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, along with other senior officers of the Ministry of Ayush, and Prof.(Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director, alongside other senior faculty members of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), graced the occasion with their presence.

The ‘Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre’ located in the E-Block, Additional Building Complex of the Supreme Court of India, aims to provide holistic healthcare services, furthering the court’s commitment to well-being for its members and staff.

In a momentous occasion, CJI DY Chandrachud expressed his satisfaction as he inaugurated the Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre at the Supreme Court of India. Highlighting his dedication to promoting Ayurveda and holistic lifestyles, CJI Chandrachud remarked, “For me, this is a satisfying moment. I have been working on this ever since I took over as CJI. We have over 2000 staff members, and we must look at a holistic pattern of living, not just for the judges and their immediate families but for the staff members too.”

The facility, established in collaboration with the All India Institute of Ayurveda under the Ministry of Ayush, aims to provide comprehensive care addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “The Ayush wellness centre at Supreme Court is an initiative of Supreme Court of India in collaboration with the All-India Institute of Ayurveda under Ministry of Ayush. Under one umbrella, we are providing all the facilities of Ayurveda.”

Moreover, an MoU regarding establishing, operationalizing, and providing expert services at the Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre was signed between the Supreme Court and the All-India Institute of Ayurveda, further solidifying their commitment to holistic healthcare.

The Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre stands as a testament to the Supreme Court’s dedication to promoting overall health and well-being among its esteemed judges and staff members.
