In light of recent events unfolding in Sandeshkhali, ABVP South Bengal organised a protest march and subsequently submitted a memorandum to the Governor of West Bengal, highlighting the urgent need for justice and peace in the region. Violence against women has plagued Sandeshkhali, with evil and fundamentalist forces, allegedly supported by the Trinamool Congress, exploiting the common people and tormenting the dignity of women.

The recent incident involving resistance faced by ED officials and media representatives during an investigation into ration distribution corruption has exposed the suppressed truth before the people of West Bengal and India. The actions of the State government and Mamata Banerjee herself, in practically immobilising and isolating Sandeshkhali and adjoining areas, have only fueled further unrest. Instances such as the wrongful detention of a Higher Secondary examinee girl by local police and the difficulties faced by students due to transportation obstacles and prohibitory orders under Section 144 have exacerbated the situation.

In response to these grave circumstances, ABVP South Bengal has laid down the following demands:

1. Strong and exemplary action against those prime accused of harassment and misconduct against women.
2. Immediate arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan and other accused to promote tranquility in Sandeshkhali.
3. Deployment of central paramilitary forces in the entire region of Sandeshkhali to establish peace and maintain law and order.
4. Justice to be served to the victims of sexual assault and harassment.
5. Initiation of a CBI investigation into the incident of Sandeshkhali to uncover the truth and ensure accountability.

ABVP State Secretary, Anirudha Sarkar stated, “ABVP South Bengal stands firm in its commitment to upholding justice, peace, and the rights of the people of Sandeshkhali. We urge the authorities to take swift and decisive action to address the grievances of the affected individuals and restore normalcy in the region.”
