The Alwar administration orchestrated a swift and decisive crackdown on February 19, targeting an illegal slaughter mandi entrenched within the remote wilderness of Kundhagadhbara in Kishangarhbas. As part of an anti-encroachment initiative, authorities reclaimed approximately 500 acres of land, effectively dismantling the clandestine operation.
Operating within this reclaimed territory was an underground beef market, where a staggering 20 cows were slaughtered on a daily basis. The harvested meat was distributed to an extensive network of 50 villages, spanning across 300 shops. The encroached land, totalling about 70 acres, harboured illicit wheat and mustard plantations, all of which were swiftly eradicated in the administrative purge. Multiple structures associated with illicit cattle farming and slaughtering were razed to the ground, signaling the administration’s uncompromising stance on the matter.
The jurisdictional reach of this operation extended over both Alwar and the newly formed Khairthal-Tijara districts, the latter having been established in 2023. Despite this administrative bifurcation, oversight and enforcement efforts remained under the purview of the Alwar district administration.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Beniwal disclosed that a contingent of nearly a dozen cows were rescued from the area designated for cattle farming. These animals have since been relocated to a shelter, ensuring their welfare amid the ongoing crackdown. The preceding day, on February 18th, law enforcement detained 35 individuals for questioning in response to escalating tensions within neighbouring villages. A contingent of 300 police officers has been deployed to apprehend the suspects and uphold law and order within the region.

Reports emerged that Rajasthan’s Forest Minister, Sanjay Sharma, personally intervened following reports of an illicit beef market flourishing within the Kishangarh-Baas police station area. During his inspection, Sharma directed a thorough investigation into the unlawful cattle farming practices and instructed officials to reclaim the encroached land. Further revelations implicated the perpetrators in electricity theft, exacerbating the gravity of their offences.
Authorities have identified 25 individuals allegedly complicit in operating the illegal beef market, yet all remain at large following the initiation of legal proceedings. Alarmingly, several of the accused have a history of prior offences related to illegal cattle farming and theft. In light of these developments, heightened vigilance has been imposed across the entirety of the Kishangarh-Baas police station area. Additionally, four police personnel faced immediate suspension in response to their involvement in the oversight of the illicit market.
The illegal slaughter market first came to public attention on February 18, when graphic footage depicting the brutal slaughter of cows within the forested expanse near Rundh Gidwada in Birasangpur surfaced on social media platforms. Utilising modern communication platforms such as WhatsApp, the accused facilitated orders and coordinated direct deliveries to their clientele, purportedly serving hundreds of buyers.
In response to public outcry and mounting evidence, Inspector General Umesh Chandra Datt of the Jaipur Range initiated a comprehensive investigation and executed a raid on the illicit market, signalling a resolute commitment to upholding the rule of law.
The crackdown on the illicit slaughter market represents a significant victory for law enforcement agencies in their ongoing battle against organised crime and illicit enterprises.
