Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party President K Annamalai said on February 13 that more development should reach North Chennai, which is reeling from “severe” underdevelopment. He also expressed confidence that Tamil Nadu will support the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media after opening the party’s North Chennai Parliament Office, the BJP leader said, “North Chennai is an important part of the Chennai city… because this is where Chennai originates. The fishermen’s brothers and sisters…They all live (here). And this is a place where there is severe underdevelopment.”

“The BJP is focusing on North Chennai as a constituency. More development should reach here. PM Modi’s good governance should come here,” he added. He alleged that there is a severe “water crisis” in this part of Chennai.

“That is why we are going full-aggressive. Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance member…Whoever is contesting (from this constituency) will make sure that particular candidate should win from here,” he added. He said that for the next 80 days, the parliamentary activities of this constituency will happen in this place. Lok Sabha elections are due in April-May this year.

In a post in X, he said,” We are all determined to work tirelessly for the next two months to continue the honest good governance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. @narendramodi, for the third term. In the upcoming parliamentary elections, Tamil Nadu will definitely strengthen the hands of our Prime Minister.”
