In a remarkable display of generosity and craftsmanship, Surat-based diamond company Greenlab Diamonds has presented a grand 6-kilogramme crown to adorn the murti of Bhagwan Ram at the recently inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This elaborate creation, fashioned with three kilograms of gold, 350-carat diamonds, 450-carat gemstones, and 650-carat pearls, reflects a dedication to ethical sourcing, prosperity, and environmental responsibility in the laboratory.

The crown, designed to be a testament to precision and artistry, showcases diamonds, gemstones, and pearls ranging from 18 carats to 5 carats. Its uniqueness and extraordinary features set it apart as a symbol of reverence for the deity.

Mukesh Patel, the owner of Greenlab Diamonds, made a swift decision to contribute to the temple, initiating the creation of the crown on January 4. Expressing the company’s eagerness to be a part of the historic event, Sanket Patel, Mukesh Patel’s son, stated, “We had a talk with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and told them we want to do this. We went to Ayodhya to get the measurements and had around 12 days to get a sense of how we wanted to create it. So, we set around 40-45 people to work on it.”

Collaborating closely with the sculptor Arun Yogiraj, whose vision played a pivotal role in crafting the Bhagwan Ram Lalla murti, Greenlab Diamonds ensured that the crown resonated with the essence of the deity. Sanket Patel explained, “We had discussions with the sculptor because ultimately it was his vision which created the Ram Lalla murti as there are no images of it. So, we thought he would be the best to guide us through the process. We created some sketches and shared them with him, and he loved them. Then we went ahead with the process.”

The crown, weighing 6 kilograms in total, contains 3 kilograms of gold, while the remaining weight is attributed to the 300 precious stones, pearls, diamonds, and gemstones intricately studded on it. Although the crown was not part of the murti’s attire during the installation ceremony on January 22, Mukesh Patel donated it to the temple, expressing confidence that it would find its place in the future attire of Bhagwan Ram Lalla.

“The mukut reached Ayodhya on the night of January 21, and by that time the idol was already ready, so it didn’t get the grand reveal. But I’m sure when they change their attire in the coming days, we’ll be able to see the mukut on Bhagwan Ram Lalla,” Patel affirmed.

Greenlab Diamonds, a company with over 50 years of experience in the diamond industry, underwent an eco-friendly transition in 2017, moving away from mined diamonds to focus on lab-grown diamonds. This commitment to sustainability aligns with the broader global shift towards ethical and environmentally conscious practices in various industries.

Notably, the company had previously crafted a lab-grown 7.5-carat diamond, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented to US first lady Jill Biden during his visit to the United States last year. The recent contribution of the lavish crown further solidifies Greenlab Diamonds’ commitment to combining craftsmanship with environmental responsibility, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural and religious landscape.
