Chhattisgarh police have arrested as many as five accused, including a minor, in connection with the brutal murder of a cowshed staff, who was brutally hacked to death on late Saturday evening, January 20 in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh.

According to the reports, five men, including a minor slit throat of Sadha Ram Yadav (50) over a minor scuffle in Lalpur Kala village under Kawardha Kotwali police station limits on Saturday. The accused then fled the spot immediately, and the incident came to light only after the residents found Yadav’s body on Sunday morning, January 21.

The murder of the cowshed worker triggered outrage among the locals, who later gathered near the Superintendent of Police (SP) office on Sunday’s afternoon and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. It’s been reported that the Chhattisgarh police then swung into action and arrested all the accused within 24 hours of the incident.

According to media reports, the accused involved in the murder have been identified as Sufiyaan, Idrish, Ayaaj, and Mahtab, all residents of Kawardha town. The district police have also nabbed a minor in the case. It’s been reported that the accused were carrying a sharp-edged weapon that was used to kill Sadha Ram.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government has provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the deceased Sadha Ram Yadav. Taking to the X, formerly Twitter, Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the State, Vijay Sharma informed that the family members of the deceased have been provided with an ex-gravitas cheque of Rs5 lakh.

Further, Home Minister Sharma, while offering his condolences to the deceased, also assured that strong punitive action would be taken against the arrested accused in the case.

It is to be noted that the state of Law and order in the mineral-rich state was one of the most debated issues in the run-up to the State assembly election, where the Narendra Modi-led party vowed to improve the situation on the ground by taking strict punitive action against criminals if voted to power.

Earlier, while indicating a shift in the State Government policy on handling syndicates crimes and criminals, the Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister, Arun Sao had also assured that criminals and Jehadis should immediately vacate Chhattisgarh as strong action including bulldozer exercise will be initiated against them.
