In a significant development leading up to the consecration of the new murti of Bhagwan Sri Ram in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, it has been revealed that the esteemed Dr Rabindra Narain Singh, President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), will play the pivotal role of Yajaman during this historic event.

The selection process for the Yajaman, or main officiant, unfolded under the guidance of prominent religious figures, including Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Moolamnaya Sarvajna Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal , Champat Rai, and Ganeshwar Shastri. Yajna Acharya Lakshmikant Dikshit also contributed to the decision-making process. To ensure a diverse representation of Vedic scholars from across India, a total of 121 experts well-versed in the four Vedas were chosen to participate in the consecration ceremony.

The proceedings will commence with the worship of the sacred Sarayu river, symbolising purity and sanctity. Water from the Sarayu will be ceremoniously transported to the sanctum sanctorum, followed by the purification of the Yajaman.

The auspicious moment of January 22, featuring an 84-second Abhijit Muhurat, has been earmarked for the grand ceremony. Notably, the Yajaman is required to be a married couple, observing celibacy for eight days and adhering to 45 strict rules. These regulations encompass daily bathing, abstaining from external food, avoiding ego-driven anger, and maintaining truthfulness, humility, and a specific dress code. Sleeping on a wooden plank, refraining from shaving or cutting nails daily, and avoiding disturbances are also among the prescribed guidelines.

In a surprising turn of events, Dr Rabindra Narain Singh, an accomplished orthopaedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee, emerged as the chosen Yajaman for this monumental spiritual and cultural event. Serving as the National President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad since 2021, Dr Singh brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. His leadership in the largest spiritual and cultural event of the past five centuries underscores the significance of this occasion.

Post the January 14 consecration, Dr RN Singh will be joined by his spouse, further emphasising the ceremonial importance of a married couple as the central figures in this divine event. As the nation awaits this historic moment, the presence of Dr Rabindra Narain Singh as the Yajaman adds an extra layer of reverence to the proceedings, uniting tradition, spirituality, and cultural significance.
