Assam: “Apologise to people of nation,” Deputy Speaker on AIUDF chief’s appeal to Muslims

Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin on January 7 lambasted AIUDF Chief and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal for his recent controversial remarks and said that the latter should apologise to the nation and Hindus living across the world.

Ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration, AIUDF MP Badruddin Ajmal asked the Muslims to stay home between January 20 to January 26 and also avoid travelling by train during Ram Mandir consecration.

“Badruddin Ajmal should apologise to the people of our nation. He should apologise for the statement which hurt millions of Hindus living across the world,” Numal Momin said.

Terming the moment of the Ram Mandir consecration as a significant and historic moment for the people of India, Numal Momin said that, this is a very significant and important moment for the people of our nation that the Praan Pratistha of Bhagwan Sri Ram will take place on January 22.

“Every person in our country is very much excited. After 5 years, the people got the temple and this was a moment of faith for the people of the nation to be restored. The hope and faith of the people of our country will be restored. At this moment, the statement given by the AIUDF chief is immature and unwanted. If he has any information about a terrorist attack on the train, he must cooperate with the administration and give the evidence, so that the Government can take action.”

“If it is not, he should not give such a statement which can create a communal tension in the nation. Everyone living in our country must enjoy and respect whether it is Muslim, Christian, Jain, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist”, Numal Momin added.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly also said that when Bhagwan Ram came to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, people celebrated Deepawali, so this time also we must celebrate the day.

“Now Pran Pratistha is happening after 500 years. So there must be illumination of our nation with Diyas a thousand times more than that we celebrated when Bhagwan Ram returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. I don’t think that Badruddin Ajmal has given a correct statement. He should apologise to the people of our nation. He should apologise for the statement which hurt millions of Hindus living across the world,” Numal Momin said.

“Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the peace has prevailed in India. Now we are heading towards a Ram Rajya. At this moment I don’t think, Badruddin Ajmal’s such type of statement will help the nation become the Viswaguru. Rather it will push back towards that arena where this murder, bomb blast, secret killings, and terrorist activities happen. The people of our nation don’t want such kind of activities to take place again,” he added.

Numal Momin further stated PM Modi’s view is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view is Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash, which is development for Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis. Antyodaya is the main principle, we don’t see whether the person is Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, or Buddhist. The poorest of the poor should get adequate respect, and facilities for income so that the poor people should come into the stream,” he said.

The AIUDF chief’s remarks also garnered criticism from the BJP, after he called the party the “biggest enemy” of the community.

“We will have to be cautious. Muslims should avoid travelling from January 20 to 25. The entire world will witness the idol of Ram Lalla being placed in Ram Janmabhoomi. Lakhs of people will travel by buses, trains, aeroplanes, etc. We will have to maintain peace,” Ajmal said while addressing a gathering in Assam’s Barpeta.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir on January 22.

The event has garnered significant attention, with several VVIP guests from India and abroad receiving invitations to participate in the auspicious occasion in Ayodhya.

From January 14 to January 22, Ayodhya will mark the Amrit Mahotsav. A 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will also be organised, in which thousands of devotees will be fed. Several tent cities are being erected in Ayodhya to accommodate thousands of devotees, who are expected to arrive in the temple town of Uttar Pradesh for the grand consecration. According to the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust, arrangements will be made for 10,000-15,000 people.
