In a significant political development, the political committee of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana organised a one-day “Political Awareness Camp” in Hyderabad. The event was designed to strategise and equip a dedicated cadre with the skills and knowledge necessary to thwart the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from securing power in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The camp, held as a key political initiative, aimed to heighten political consciousness among the participants and develop effective strategies to counter the BJP’s influence in the region. Representatives from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana led discussions, emphasising the importance of unity and informed political engagement.
With an explicit focus on the 2024 elections, the camp sought to mobilise support against the BJP, outlining objectives and strategies to ensure a strong opposition presence. The event attracted members and supporters who are keen on actively participating in the political landscape and preventing the BJP’s ascension to power in the state.
JIH Telangana State President Dr Khalid Mubashir Al-Zafar stated that the upcoming parliamentary elections are the most important elections in the country’s history because, on the one hand, the BJP wants to implement fascism through religious hatred and plans to change the country’s constitution, while secular parties want to strengthen the country’s social structure and secular character. At this point, we must employ a good strategy to crush fascist forces.
Abdul Majeed Shoaib, Convener of Political Committee, said the upcoming parliamentary elections will determine the country’s political future and will have an impact on the country’s political, social, economic, and social conditions. We don’t have the energy to face the upcoming challenges, so we held this meeting to work within ourselves and practically prepare ourselves.
He added that priority tasks include adding names to the voter list, attempting to increase voter turnout, strengthening ties with non-Muslims, and expanding contacts with influential people and scholars. He suggested that in each assembly constituency, at least forty youths should be trained for political work, resulting in three hundred youths ready to work full-time in a Parliamentary Constituency.
According to JIH Telangana member Sadiq Ahmed, a secular democratic forum has to be created everywhere and ought to include representatives from all facets of society.
A participant in the event said that it is our duty to make every effort to preserve the nation’s secular nature in light of the BJP’s goal to transform the nation into a Hindu Rashtra.
As per the press note released on January 1, the members of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana as well as elected officials from the cities and districts took part in the gathering.
In the recently concluded Telangana assembly elections, the JIH Telangana declared its support for the Congress candidates in 67 seats, 42 seats BRS, 1 seat for CPI, and to 7 AIMIM seats out of the 119 constituencies.
