On January 1, the Ministry of Home Affairs took a significant step by designating gangster Satwinder Singh, alias Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
As per the official notification, Brar, born on April 1, 1994, and residing in Brampton, Canada, is identified as an active member of the Khalistani terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International. Notably, he is the prime accused in the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.
The Home Ministry’s statement outlined Brar’s involvement in various criminal activities, including murder, extortion, issuing threatening calls, and making claims on social media. Additionally, he is accused of smuggling weapons and ammunition into India through the use of drones. Brar is also suspected of orchestrating target killings, leading to disruptions in peace and communal harmony, particularly in the Punjab region.

This decision by the Government of India aligns with a non-bailable warrant issued against Brar on December 12, 2022, and a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol, reflecting global consensus on the threat posed by him.
The notification, enacted after the latest amendment on December 29, 2023, involves adding Brar’s name to the Fourth Schedule, demonstrating the government’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and taking stringent measures against those who jeopardise India’s security and harmony.
