Assam Love-Jihad Case: Live-in partner and prime suspect in Anju Dorjee’s murder, Mani Khan arrested

The suspicious death of Hindu girl Anju Dorjee in Assam raises concerns of a possible “Love Jihad” incident. Her body was discovered in a Guwahati flat on November 12, where she was in a live-in relationship with married Muslim man Mani Khan. After a seven-day manhunt, Guwahati city police apprehended Mani Khan on the night of November 19. The arrest sheds light on the intricate details of the case, exposing Khan’s marital status and being a father of two.

The departed, Anju Dorjee, was found in her leased apartment in the Six Mile area on November 12. She was living with her live-in accomplice, Mani Khan, who had been slipping away since the occurrence became known. It should be mentioned that the accused, Mani Khan, is already married and father of two children. He hails from Barpeta district in lower Assam.

A hunt was launched to find Khan, resulting in his arrest in the evening of November 19.

Initial reports reveal that Khan was arrested by Dispur Police in Guwahati after they examined the CCTV footage from the apartment where the suspected murder took place.

Authorities examined the CCTV footage of the last 15 days with an aim to catch the culprit who murdered Anju. Mani Khan, the prime suspect, was finally arrested from Guwahati.

The deceased, Anju Dorjee was around 25 to 26 years old and she was from Bokajan in Assam. She was tracked down in a Guwahati apartment on November 12, after her landlord found some foul smell coming from the apartment.

The whole episode came to light when the landowner found a foul smell in the loft she leased with her live-in accomplice. Police sources said she died two or three days ago. Her body was sent for a postmortem, but police are yet to disclose the report. However, the initial report suggested that it is a murder case and police have received several vital clues about the murder.

Mani Khan,the live-in accomplice of the deceased Anju and the prime suspect was absconding since the episode became known. Mani Khan was not found after the episode, and his cell phone was switched off. Mani Khan, a married Muslim man and father of two, was in a live-in relationship with a young Hindu girl, which made the case complicated, a police official said. Moreover, his elopement after the girl’s body was found made the investigating authority more curious. Many believe that this is another case of love jihad case where a Hindu girl fell prey to a fake love by a married Muslim man and lost her life.

As the investigation into Anju Dorjee’s tragic death unfolds, the arrest of Mani Khan sheds light on a complex web of relationships, prompting concerns about the nature of the incident in the broader context of “Love Jihad.” The Assam community awaits further developments in this sensational case.
