As part of the Seva Pakhwada, Ayushman Bhav Abhiyan for saturation of essential health services is being held across the country from September 17, under which over 1,68,000 Ayushman melas have been organised witnessing the registration of more than 75 lakh patients as on September 27, an official statement said on September 27.

The ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu, on September 13, aims to redefine healthcare accessibility and inclusivity across the country and embodies a whole-of-nation and whole-of-society approach, the statement read.

The core objective of the Sewa Pakhwada is to extend comprehensive healthcare coverage to every village and town, transcending geographical barriers and ensuring that no one is left behind, it added.

The official statement stated, “Under the Ayushman Bhav campaign, over 54 lakh ‘Abha IDs’ have been generated, over 60 lakh people have recieved free medicines and over 47 lakh people have received free diagnostic services”.

Notably, Abha IDs are unique Identity cards assigned to the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bhav campaign. The Seva Pakhwada aims to play a pivotal role in distributing Ayushman cards, generating ABHA IDs, and raising awareness about vital health schemes and disease conditions, such as non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis (Nikshay Mitra), sickle cell disease, as well as blood donation and organ donation drives, the statement read.

Meanwhile, an Ayshman mela was organised at the Community Health Centre in Haryana’s Gurugram. The beneficiaries received their Ayushman cards and got their unique Abha ID cards at the mela. Around 2800 people were screened for NCDs and other ailments while 1,163 people were given free medicines at the mela, according to the statement.

The Ayushman Bhav campaign will continue till October 2, 2023, under which ‘Ayushman Melas’ are being organised across the country.

The ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign, initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, is a comprehensive nationwide healthcare initiative that aims to provide saturation coverage of healthcare services, reaching every village and town in the country.

This groundbreaking initiative builds upon the success of the Ayushman Bharat program and signifies a paradigm shift in healthcare services.
