A case of love jihad has come to light from the Bengaluru district of Karnakata where a man working in an IT firm has been accused of trapping his colleague, sexually exploiting her and forcing her to convert. Following the complaint police booked the accused Murif Ashraf Baig and started investigating the matter.

As per the reports, the Hebbagodi police in Bengaluru have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Baig, a software engineer from Kashmir, who has been employed at an IT firm in Bengaluru. This action comes in response to allegations of “love jihad” made against him by a software professional from his office in Bengaluru.  has been employed at an IT firm in Bengaluru.

Notably, the FIR was lodged after the victim approached the Bellandur police via social media on September 8, seeking help. The message was directed towards the Bengaluru Police, the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP), and the Prime Minister’s Office.

In her post, she stated that her “life is in danger.” The victim revealed that she was subjected to “rape, unnatural sex and forced religious conversion.”

The victim informed that after meeting in the office the duo became friends on the social media platform Facebook. The accused gained her trust over time and started borrowing money from her. Whenever she tried asking him to return the money he would make excuses. This time, he threatened with death threats when she asked him to return the money.

The accused has been sexually exploiting the woman on the pretext of marriage.

As per the  Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Raman Gupta, the victim in her post on social media stated that she is a victim of love jihad. He said, “The woman claims to be a software engineer is from Bengaluru. She had tweeted that she was a victim of love jihad. The incident is said to have happened around five to six years ago. We will have to investigate the delay in bringing the matter to the notice of the city police. A due investigation will give clarity about the case.”

The Bellandur police located the address of Baig to ensure the victims complaint would be directed to the appropriate authorities for necessary action. They assured her that steps would be taken once she formally filed a police complaint.

Upon reviewing the social media post, the Bellandur police launched an investigation into the incident and subsequently handed over the case to the Hebbagodi police. The Hebbagodi police then took the victim’s statement, filed charges against the accused under pertinent sections of the IPC, and started an inquiry.
