In an unfortunate case of stalking, a 16-year-old Hindu boy was lynched to death by the stalkers of his sister. The attackers thrashed him on the streets and left only after he started losing breath. The victim girl, a class 10 student, was lying unconscious a few meters away from her brother. When she woke up and asked for help, no one came forward and the boy ultimately died. The incident took place in the Kheri area of Prayagraj on August 28.

Following the incident, the police registered an FIR at the Kheri police station against as many as four accused. Two of them have been identified as Mohsin and Yusuf. As of now, the police have arrested Yusuf and four others, and Mohsin is absconding. (Organiser will update the story as soon as we have the copy of the FIR)

After the death of the Hindu boy, people started gathering and within no time, thousands of people gathered on the spot. Ambulance was called but the people protested against the police inaction and then came the police. The protestors demanded a bulldozer trail against the culprits.

Five police officers suspended

After massive protests and demonstrations in the case, the police have arrested all five accused in the murder. Of these, three are minors, as being told. At the same time, the commissioner has suspended SO Naveen Kumar Singh and the outpost in charge for negligence.

At the same time, the police have not yet provided the names of the attackers. Earlier, after the murder on August 28, many senior officers including Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma reached the spot. The relatives demonstrated on the streets for about 9 hours. They jammed the streets demanding action. After this, the commissioner opened the jam by assuring action against the accused.

How the minor was attacked?

Satyam Sharma (16) was a resident of Puradalu village. He studied at Parmanand Inter College in 10th standard. His uncle’s daughter also studies at the same school in 10th grade. The sister told the media, “We were both going home when the school closed on Monday. As soon as we reached Turkpurwa locality, students from the same village and Muslim students studying in our school held our hands. Tried to drag us,”

The girl said, “When I shouted, brother Satyam got into a brawl with Islamist goons. After this everyone attacked Satyam. Hit him with a bat until he fell to the ground. He was covered in blood. I kept shouting, but no one came forward to help. The assailants fled while threatening”.

The girl said Satyam was lying suffering in pain, screaming for help on the road and I kept screaming helplessly. After informing, the relatives also reached the spot. Swaroop Rani Nehru of Prayagraj fled with Satyam to the hospital. On reaching there, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Family called for a protest

Angered over the death of the minor boy thousands of people reached Kheri Square. They blocked the intersection. Stuck on the arrest of the accused. The force of many police stations reached the spot. ACP Rajeev Yadav SO tried a lot to persuade the villagers, but the jam did not open till late at night.

Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma and District Magistrate Sanjay Khatri also reached at around 11 pm. Sat on the road with family members. Then, assuring action against the accused, the commissioner cleared the blocked road at 1.30 am.

ACP Rajeev Yadav says, “The allegation of molestation is false. The relatives have given their statements. FIR has been registered against 4 accused. One of them is the sarpanch, Mohammad Yusuf and the other is Mohsin. Search for him is going on. Rest are arrested”.

Mute spectators

The family kept on crying repeatedly, saying that the accused were beating their son, but no one came forward to save him. Not only this, the injured son kept on suffering while lying on the road. If only! Had someone protested, Satyam would have been alive today.

The video of the minor sister of Satyam, named Reshma, is also going viral where she cries helplessly after the greatest loss of her life.

Yet another case of stalking took 16-year-old Satyam Sharm's life.

Satyam dared to speak & take action against stalkers who harassed his sister on their way to school. Angered with the retaliation Mohsin, Yusuf & other beat him to death.

The minor victim also told the media that she had informed the school authorities about the molestation but no action was taken against the perpetrators.

The family alleges, “Earlier also, the students had molested the daughter in the school, against which she had lodged a protest with the manager and complained. The management did not take any action on this, nor did it complain to the police. This enraged the goons and Satyam was murdered. Manoj Pandey, manager of Parmanand Inter College, says, “On the complaint, he called the youths and explained them. Complaints were also made to the local police several times that police arrangements should be made here during the holidays but it did not happen.”

Accused Sarpanch is a history-sheeter

Sarpanch Mohammad Yusuf, the named accused in Satyam’s lynching case, has several criminal cases registered against him. A case was also registered by the police for assaulting Lekhpal earlier. He is known in the area for his bullying. The youths who molested the girl student belong to Pradhan’s house only.

The place where Satyam was lynched is right in front of Yusuf’s house. Two others who attacked him are said to be close to Yusuf. As the attackers belong to the Muslim community, tensions have gripped the town and heavy police is deployed in the area to take the situation under control.
