Amid the ongoing row over the deteriorating state of law and order in Bihar, the brutal murder of the print media journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav by unknown assailants in wee hours of Friday has once again ignited a fresh war of tug between the ruling alliance of Janata Dal United (JDU) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with the opposition led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a press briefing released on Friday, August 18, Union Minister of state, Nityanand Rai said that “the law and order situation in the state has collapsed and criminals are carrying their act in open, the murder of Vimal Kumar Yadav is nothing but murder of law and the media ” Ye Kalam aur Kanoon ki Hatya hai.”

Back to back incidents like this are reflecting the failed state of law and order in the state. These incidents are a testimony that the criminals hold no fear of the law and are being protected by the ruling alliance of JDU-RJD. Some time ago Vimal’s brother was also murder, he was the only eye witness of that murder, added further, Rai.

Further while highlighting the figures of the murders and rape took place in the last one year the BJP law maker from Bihar quoted that around 3000 murders and around 500 cases of rape have come to the fore in the last one year, which exposed the reality of law and order in the state.

Nitish Kumar and Tejaswi Yadav should stop giving protection to the criminals and miscreants. This government is neither bothered about the development nor about the security of the people. It’s a failed government, concluded  Rai.

Back to back murders of SHO and a Journalist

It is to be noted that the murder of the journalist by armed miscreants who barged into his house and shot him dead in the wee hours of Friday under Raniganj police station limits of Araria has occurred days after a Station House Officer (SHO) Nandkishore Yadav succumbed to his injuries after being shot by the cattle smugglers in Samastipur of Bihar on Tuesday, August 15.

As per the reports, SHO Yadav had initiated an inquiry into the incidents of cattle theft being reported in the Mohanpur area for the past few days. During the course of investigation it was revealed that a cattle smugglers gang from Nalanda was behind the recent cases of cattle theft in the region.

Upon enquiring the trio disclosed about the other gang members following which SHO Nandkishore Yadav rushed to Nan the remaining accused with a team.

It’s been learnt that the gang members opened fire on Yadav who had gone there to catch them. Yadav was shot above his eyes, following which he was immediately rushed to the hospital from where he was referred to IGIMS subsequently after his situation deteriorated. Later on Yadav succumbed to his injuries.

Days after the murder of the SHO, Nandkishore Yadav in Samastipur, Vimal Kumar Yadav, a journalist associated with the Dainik Bhaskar group was killed after a group of assailants on Friday morning knocked his door and shot him dead after he opened the main gate.

It’s been reported that Vimal Yadav was the sole breadwinner of the family as a few years back his brother Gabbu Yadav was also murdered. Vimal was also the sole witness in his brother murder case.

Opposition slams ruling alliance

On the other hand the opposition parties in the state, including Chirag Paswan led Lok Janshakti  Party (Ramvilas) LJP, Pappu Yadav led Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) and Jeetan Ram Manjhi led Hindustan Awami Morcha in separate statements slammed the incumbent government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Speaking with the media Pappu Yadav, said ‘children were killed in Madhubani and in Madhupura, a man was also shot for refusing to give a Thar car in Purnea, this is not a matter of a journalist or a common man, the thing is why does the political parties give protections to the criminals? I want to ask who fired shots on Nilesh Mukhiya, the names which are coming are of the sand mafias.’

Interacting with the press Chirag Paswan, president of the LJP ( R ) said that ” these people (I.N.D.I.A) says that democracy is being murdered, they are not able to save the pillars of the democracy, they are not able to save their policemen, journalist who are the fourth pillar of the democracy are being murder in our state.”

“In your state journalists even the policemen are not safe Mukhyamantri Ji, forget about the common Bihari, the people of Bihar have lost faith in you, they wipe out their tears by their own added”, Mr. Paswan.

It is to be noted that the state of law and order has been under the scanner lately in Bihar where the opposition parties led by the BJP has been hitting the streets alleging that the incumbent ruling alliance has forced the state into the era of 90s where the citizens of the state are forced to leave under the shadow of Jungle Raj.
