Jungle Raj 2.0: Patna turns into crime capital, 30 murders in 30 days

Jungle raj has once again returned in Bihar as their has been massive increase in the crime rate. Addressing the media in a press conference Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), Patna, Rajeev Mishra said that 30 incidents of murder, 16 of loot, 2 of dacoity, 14 of chain snatching and a total of 421 incidents of vehicle theft have been reported in the district.

” As many as 60 people in connection with the murder cases, 6 people in dacoity, 32 in loot, and as many as 384 people have been arrested on charges of attempt to murder by the police, while a total of 3391 people have been arrested across the district for different crimes ” said SSP, Mishra.

A total of 40 arms and 99 cartridges have been recovered and criminals have been subsequently sent to jail in Arms act, while a total of 69 vehicles have been recovered by the police, the district police have also opened 4 new police stations, 5 new (observation post) OP and 48 (community-oriented policing) COP in the district.

During the press conference SSP, Mishra also shed light on the development made by the police in connection with the major incidents that occurred in the district in the last month.

Spurt in Crime 

It is to be noted that the Nitish Kumar ruled state has witnessed a surge in the cases pertaining to murder, loot and crime against women lately as a number of such incidents has been coming to the fore on a regular basis while the capital city of Patna being no exception.

Earlier A businessman hailing from Bihar, Sharif, was shot dead by two armed miscreants in broad daylight near Thakurbari road under Kadamkuan police station limits of Patna City on 24 July, The deceased was later identified as Ramesh Prashad.

The incident occurred hours after a youth identified as Ankit Kumar was also shot dead by unknown armed miscreants at his home in the irrigation department colony under Bihta police station limits of Patna district.

In another incident BJP leader and husband of a ward councillor of Patna, Nilesh Mukhiya was also shot by unknown criminals on Monday, July 31. The incident occured when Mukhiya was heading towards his office on Monday morning when the miscreants shot him near Kurja Mor under Patliputra police station limits. Mukhiya was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital from where he was referred to Ruben hospital of Patna where he is said to be out of danger.

In another case a person identified as Santosh Kumar alias klempu was also shot dead by unknown assailants near Khajekala Ghat under Khajekala police station limits of Patna. Earlier a shopkeeper along with a other person were also shot by miscreants in Kajipur under Kadamkuwan police station limits of Patna on Saturday July 29.

Meanwhile the deteriorating state of law and order in the state has enabled the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to go all guns blazing on the ruling RJD-JDU alliance.

Taking to twitter, senior leader of BJP Nikhil Ananad while slamming the Nitish led state government said “that amid the number game played by the government, truth is coming out from a few officers in the state.”

“30 incidents of murder took place in the capital Patna meaning 365 murders took place in a year. Bihar is in such a bad state but the king is busy dreaming of the prime minister’s post’, twitted the BJP leader.
