Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27, 2023 released  the 14th instalment of the Centre’s flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) at a programme held during his visit to Rajasthan’s Sikar.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi lauded the efforts of the farmers. He said,  “…The power of the farmers and the hard work of the farmers extract gold from the soil. That’s why our government is standing shoulder to shoulder with the farmers of the country. Today, after so many decades since independence, such a government has come to power, which understands the pain and sorrow of the farmer, understands the concern of the farmer, that’s why decisions have been taken continuously in the interest of the farmers in the last 9 years.”

Know what is the PM-Kisan Scheme

PM-Kisan is a central sector scheme launched in February 2019 to supplement the financial needs of all land-holding farmers subject to certain exclusion criteria of higher income status. Financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments in every four months is transferred into the bank accounts of farmers.

Further, in a significant move benefiting farmers, PM Modi also dedicated 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) to the nation. PMKSKs are being developed to provide a one-stop solution for all farmers’ needs.

Speaking about the dedication of more than 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras in the country, the Prime Minister said that it would directly benefit crores of farmers at the village and block level.

He also mentioned the onboarding of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and said that it would make it easier for the farmers to take their produce to the market from any part of the country.
He also mentioned the launch of Urea Gold, new medical colleges and Eklavya Model Schools. The Prime Minister congratulated the people of India as well as crores of farmers for today’s development projects.

From information on agri-inputs (fertilisers, seeds, implements) to testing facilities for soil, seeds, and fertilisers, to information regarding various government schemes, PMKSKs are envisaged to become a reliable support system for farmers in the country.

Centralised help desk to help farmers has been set up

According to the PM Kisan official tweet, “A centralised help desk has been introduced to facilitate the beneficiaries to overcome the problems faced during the registration process of PM Kisan scheme.”

Importance of seeding Aadhaar number in NPCI mapper

In order to avail the benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme, it is important to know that one has to have an Aadhaar and NPCI linked bank account. Seeding Aadhaar number in NPCI mapper means that it is a process which needs to be followed by which on the basis of written consent submitted by the customer,  the bank (after linking the Aadhaar number to the account in Core banking) will update NPCI mapper.

In order to get  the 14th instalment of PM Kisan without any problem, beneficiary farmers need to ensure that their bank account is linked to the Aadhaar card. They need to check the status of Aadhaar seeding with a bank account at https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper.

The Government of India has authorised the Department of Posts to link Aadhaar and NPCI to the bank account of the beneficiaries. Therefore, one should contact the nearest post office and open a new (DBT Enabled) account in the India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) without delay. Make sure that the beneficiaries complete the eKYC.
