Once again, details of a dreadful incident were unfolded in the media on July 26. The victim, a native of the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, was gang-raped by Islamists after one of them lured her into a fake relationship. Later, the group gang-raped her upon intoxication, recorded her nude clips and shared them with her brother.

After the incident, a First Information Report was registered by the victim’s mother at the Kithour police station. Based on the complaint the police arrested three accused involved in the crime. They are identified as Shakir, Alam, Pappu, Shoaib, Haider, and others.

As per the media reports, Shahid managed to lure the woman into a fake relationship, after which he tried to make a physical relationship with her. The woman was reluctant, and then Shahid took her into the forest upon intoxication. He was not alone, as his friends Alam, Shoaib, and others joined him.

All the accused took turns and gang-raped the woman. A video of the said incident is getting viral on social media, where the woman can be heard begging in front of the accused men.

She keeps saying, “Bhaiya, let me wear my clothes. I am begging, please let me wear my clothes.. She cries and keeps begging for help, but to no avail”.

The video was shot after raping the woman. She was lying naked on the ground as the perpetrators shot the video. They not only recorded the woman in such a vulnerable condition but also shared the same clip with her brother.

After the incident, the accused sent the woman home after threatening to kill her and making the video viral. After this, the accused started having physical relations with her regularly by threatening to make the video viral.

Meanwhile, the girl refused to have a physical relationship. Only then did one of the accused sent the video of the gang rape to the brother of the woman. After which the incident came to light. Police registered a case and arrested Shakir, Alam, and Pappu. While raids are being conducted in search for others.

Speaking on the matter, Meerut’s SP Dehat, Kamlesh Bahadur Singh said that a woman resident of Kithore had given a complaint in the police station that a young man had been sexually abusing her daughter for two years on the pretext of marriage. The friends of that young man together made a video of indecency with that girl. The victim has recorded her statement under section 164 of the CrPC. Three people have been arrested in this case and the search is on for others.

Similar incidents from the past

On July 20, a female candidate who fought the recent Panchayat elections in West Bengal filed a complaint against Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers. The woman faced a similar plight as those in the viral video from Manipur. She too was stripped, paraded on streets, and touched her inappropriately.

The gram sabha candidate on July 20 said that she was physically assaulted and molested by the TMC workers on July 8, the polling day of Panchayat polls, an official statement said.

The victim alleged that the Trinamool goons stripped her naked and paraded her around the village on panchayat election day.

In the viral clip, two tribal women can be seen getting thrashed and stripped by a mob, including women. The incident is said to have happened on July 19 and was reported in Malda’s Pakua Hat area which falls under the Bamangola Police Station.

Sharing the video of the said incident the BJP state IT incharge Amit Malviya wrote on Twitter, “The horror continues in West Bengal. Two Tribal women were stripped naked, tortured and beaten mercilessly, while police remained a mute spectator in the Pakua Hat area of Bamangola Police Station, Malda. The horrific incident took place on the morning of 19th July. The woman belonged to a socially marginalised community and had a frenzied mob baying for her blood…”
