As per the information received the members of the Dalit community of Dharampur village had arrived at the crematorium to perform the last rites of one of the deceased member of their community when members of the other community objected to it following which an altercation broke up between the two groups on July 23 evening.

Speaking to Organiser, Vinod Bansal national spokesperson of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)  quoted that ” Darbangha incident has unmasked the Mim-Bhim secular gang who claimed to be the Messiah of the Dalit community. Why does that I-N-D-I-A sleep when Dalits are tortured, why is there no discussion on this in parliament, will there be an outrage against the Jihadis? The VHP is determined to fight for the justice of our Dalit brothers.”

It’s been reported that soon after the scuffle broke out between the groups, both sides started pelting stones at each other after which they also damaged the households of others. Learning about the incident the district police while filing an FIR have arrested as many as 8 people pertaining to the violence while hunt is on for other accused.

According to reports in the media, members of a particular community also tried to violate the modesty of the body of the deceased. They also vandalised as many as six houses. The miscreants also torched a motorcycle belonging to a local village head apart from damaging a number of other vehicles including those of officials.

It has been reported that the dispute between the groups occurred over a piece of landon which both the sides staked their claim. One of the groups was preparing for the funeral and the other created a ruckus and pelted stones. During the violence, at least a dozen people were injured including a few policemen.

Dispute in Bariaul village

In another incident that occurred under the Kamtaul police station limits, a dispute broke out between the two communities over the procession of Muharram in Bariaul village following which police teams from nearby police stations were rushed to the spot on Monday, July 24.

Taking to twitter the Darbhanga police informed that a peace meeting was called upon and the situation is under control while security personnel have been deployed in Bariaul village.

Learning about the incident the city police then called upon a peace meeting. However miscreants from a particular group while halting the proceedings started a ruckus in the meet after which both sides started pelting stones at each other.

An FIR against a total of 70 people pertaining to the incident was filed in connection with the incident and  as many as 13 accused have already been arrested while efforts are on to nab the absconding accused, informed Darbhanga police in another tweet.

Deterioration of law and order in Bihar

It is to be noted that the ruling coalition in the state has been on target of opposition lately over deteriorating law and order situation in the state where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been alleging the Nitish led government for failing to control the surge in incidents related to murder, loot, women safety and communal flare-ups.

ThagbandhanAppeasement pic.twitter.com/S1uVAmLjSM

— BJP Bihar (@BJP4Bihar) July 25, 2023

Taking to twitter, the state unit of the saffron party while  sharing a poster of the recent communal flare-ups in the state said that ” Due to the appeasement policy of the Mahagathbandhan government Darbhanga is burning, earlier Sasaram and Bihar Sharif were also burnt, how long will Bihar be burning?
