Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections which are scheduled to take place in 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the names of the election in-charges of the four poll bound states which are Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana. The decision came soon after the BJP appointed state chiefs in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Telangana.

Rajasthan

Prahlad Joshi has been made the election in-charge of the state while Nitin Patel and Kuldeep Bishnoi have been made co-incharge. Presently, Rajasthan is being ruled by the Congress party led by Ashok Gehlot. BJP is looking forward to return to power in Rajasthan owing to the ongoing tussle within the Congress party between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. Of late, Sachin Pilot had taken to task his own government as he took on a five days long march against the ongoing corruption within the state. Moreover, the general pattern that is seen in the assembly elections in the past in Rajasthan is that the people have not voted the ruling party to power in the next elections.

Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, Om Prakash Mathur has been made the election in-charge and Mansukh Mandviya has been made co-incharge for upcoming assembly polls. Bharatiya Janata Party lost the assembly polls in 2018 which was fought. At that point of time Raman Singh was the Chief Minister. Congress party stormed to power by winning 68 seats in Chhattisgarh while BJP had won merely 15 seats. Once again BJP is aiming to get back its lost bastion and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced development projects worth Rs 7000 crore for Chhattisgarh.

Madhya Pradesh

BJP has made Bhupendra Yadav the main election in-charge while Ashwini Vaishnaw has been named as the co-in-charge. The last assembly elections in 2018 were closely fought as the BJP had won 109 seats while the Congress party had won 114 seats. However, later on some of the MLAs joined the BJP in Madhya Pradesh and then Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath as the Chief Minister for the third time. BJP wants to ensure that they are able to return to power in Madhya Pradesh and with a bigger margin.

Telangana

Prakash Javadekar has been the election in-charge for Telangana, with Sunil Bansal as co-in-charge. It has been reported in the media that after being named as the election in-charge for the southern state of Telangana, Javadekar took a dig at KCR government over its failure to fulfil the aspirations of the people. He added that the people of the state were angry with the incumbent government.

BJP Steps Up Its Election Campaign

The decision to name the poll in-charges was taken at a meeting that was headed by party president JP Nadda and other senior leaders from various states. BJP has stepped up its organisational activities in various states as the Lok Sabha elections are also round the corner. Also, the recent meetings of the BJP leaders focussed on “sewa, sushashan and garib kalyan (service, good governance, welfare of the poor).” Also, all possible measures are being taken to tell the people at large the new initiatives that have been taken by the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its accomplishments.
